Participant Profile Dear young person, We are very excited to meet you in [location] and look forward to working with you and supporting your participation during the [conference]. Over the next few months (leading up to September) we hope to connect with you several times (by , skype, phone) so that we can learn more about each other and so that we can ensure your trip to [location] is meaningful and successful. To start, we would love to learn more about your interests and experiences. We would also like to know how you like to get involved and participate. We will use this information to create opportunities that are suited to your expertise and preferences. Please take a few minutes to fill in this form. Thank you and see you soon!!!! A. In September, children, youth and adults will be talking about many different issues that affect children. From climate change to education to health and so much more. Please let us know what issues/themes are of interest to you. In particular, we would like to hear about your experiences advocating or working on these issues. 1. Survival and Health (please choose one) 2. Education (please choose one) 3. Children affected by war or conflict (please choose one)
4. Violence and abuse (please choose one) 5. Poverty (please choose one) 6. Food, malnutrition and ending hunger (please choose one) 7. Water and sanitation (please choose one) 8. Sports, recreation and play (please choose one) 9. Cultural and indigenous issues (please choose one) 10. Children with disabilities (please choose one)
11. Participation and freedom of expression (please choose one) 12. Did we miss anything? Please tell us: _ B. Please tell us a little about your experience(s) addressing the issues listed above. For example: have you run workshops, helped raise awareness, taken action in your community? Please share: C. We would also like to learn more about HOW you like to participate and get involved. Please consider your answers carefully, we may not be able to support every form of participation but we will do our best. It is helpful to know what opportunities are the MOST important to you. There are no right or wrong answers. 1. Do you like to express yourself visually through art, paintings and drawings? 2. Do you like to express yourself with words through story-telling and poems? 3. Do you like to express yourself with music, song, dance and singing?
4. Do you like to express yourself through role play, skits and acting? 5. Would you like the opportunity to be a child journalist and write about events/meetings and interview people? YES! This would be amazing! I would be happy to focus mostly on this. Yes/maybe, but I would also like to explore other opportunities. Not really, I would prefer to explore other opportunities. 6. Do you like to speak in front of large audiences/groups of people? (For example: giving a speech) Not really, I would prefer to avoid this. 7. Do you prefer to be behind the scenes and in the background? (For example: writing speeches for other people, doing research, organizing and planning.) Yes, I often feel most comfortable in these situations. Sometimes, but I can be flexible. Not really, I like to be up front, in the spotlight whenever possible. 8. Are there any other opportunities or ways of sharing your message that we did not mention? Please share: D. Sometimes people (for example: the media, delegates, people attending a meeting ) will want to know a little about you, where you are from and your interests/experiences. This information is often called a bio (short for biography). We need your help to create your bio. Here are some guidelines: - it should be short and no more than ten lines - include your first name, age and country - share a few lines about the issues/themes that are most important to you and the work you have done to address these issues in your community - if you like, you can also share a line about your personal hobbies, interests and future goals and/or your favorite quote
- you do not need to share anything that is too personal or that makes you uncomfortable Here are two examples: [Name]. I am 17 years old. I am from [country]. I am one of 5 siblings. I have been in a youth group here in [country] for a year and a half, and through this group, I have [experience]. I have also [experience] for 2 years. I am in my school's theater club and I play baseball on a team here in my city. [Name], I'm seventeen years old, and I live in [country]. I graduated from high school this June, and I will be [future plans]. For the past four years I've been [experience], and this past year I [experience]. I have also worked with Please write your own short bio: E. Do you have any questions, comments or anything else to share with us? THANK YOU!!
