1 Your group will produce two of each type of triangle fitting the descriptions below. Any sides or angles NOT specified can be whatever size you like. Divide the work any way you like. Before you cut out the triangle, ask someone in your group to double check your measurements. It is imperative that you attend to precision during this activity. Station #1: Anglegs Station 1. Given: red stick, yellow stick, purple stick 1. Connect the yellow, red, and purple sticks together. 2. Trace the inside of the triangle on a piece of paper. 3. Cut out the triangle. 4. Highlight the given parts of the triangle. 5. Place the triangle in the area. 2. Given: blue stick, 40 angle, orange stick 1. Place the end of the blue stick on the nub of the Angleg protractor. 2. Using the orange stick create a 40 angle between the two sticks. 3. Find the Angleg stick that completes the triangle. 4. Trace the inside of your triangle on a piece of paper. 5. Cut out the triangle. 6. Mark the given parts of the triangle with tick marks and half moons. 7. Place the triangle in the area. 3. Given: red stick, green stick, right angle 1. Use the green Angleleg as the base of your triangle and the red Angleg as your hypotenuse. 2. Find the piece that completes the triangle and connects the red Angleg to the green Angleg at a right angle. 3. Trace the inside of the triangle on a piece of paper. 5. Mark the given parts of the triangle with tick marks and half moons.
2 Station #2: Protractor and Ruler Station 1. Given: 40 angle, 30 angle, and third angle known 1. Draw a long segment. (It can be any length.) Label the two endpoints of the segment A and B. 2. From point A, draw a 40 angle. 3. Draw a 30 from point B. Extend the ray so it intersects the ray. that created the 40 angle. Notice: You already know what the third angle should be. Segment AB can be any length 2. Given: (40 angle, 4in side, 30 angle) 1. Draw a segment 4in long. Label the two endpoints of the segment A and B. 2. From point A, draw a 40 angle. 3. Draw a 30 angle from point B. Extend the ray so it intersects the ray that created the 40 angle. 4in
3 Station #3: Protractor, Ruler, and Transparency Station 1. Given: 4in side, 40 angle, 80 angle 1. Draw a segment 4in long. Label the two endpoints A and B. 2. From point B draw a 40. Draw a long segment like the dashed one in Figure Place the transparency with the 80 angle on top of your drawing so that the dashed lines. lie on top of each other. On your drawing, mark the intersection of the circle with segment AB. Label it point D. 6. Draw a segment connecting C to D (radius) to complete your triangle. 7. Cut out the triangle. 8. Mark the given parts of the triangle with tick marks and half-moons. 9. Place your entire picture in the area.
