Any modifications/changes made by this addendum affect only the portions or paragraphs specifically identified herein; all remaining portions of the proposal to remain in force. It is the responsibility of all bidders to conform to this addendum. Acknowledge receipt of this addendum in the space provided on the bid form. Failure to do so may subject Bidder to disqualification. A. CHANGES AND/OR CLARIFICATIONS TO THE PROJECT MANUAL, CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS: Item (1) CHANGE: In Paragraph 3.1 of Special Conditions, change Contract Time from One Hundred and Twenty (120) Calendar days to One Hundred and Fifty (150) Calendar days. Item (2) CHANGE: On Agenda for Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference, Item 3D., change Notice of Intent to Award on September 16, 27 to Notice of Intent to Award on September 15, 27. Item (3) ADD: To Drawing CD.28, Under Project Notes, add fourth bullet as follows Provide one full size mockup of each sign material type (porcelain, painted, vinyl, & cast aluminum) for review and acceptance. Once accepted, mockup sign may be used in final installation. Item (4) REPLACE: Replace existing 2-page Sign Summary with attached new Sign Summary. 2 Item (6) ADD: Add attached pages 56 and 57 to the Sign Message Schedule. Changes to Drawings: Item (7) ADD: Add attached addendum drawings AD1-, AD1-02, AD1-03 & AD1-04. B. Bid Questions: Question Question: # 1 On Sheet CD.06 of the Design Drawings, it refers to Sign Type XID.42 (Variant B). On the Sign Summary document it references Sign type XID.42B. Are these two synonymous with each other? 2 Sheet CD.28 notes that the installation company must remove existing sign letters, cast aluminum plaques and vinyl copy/numerals from buildings. Please provide quantities of each of these three types of existing signs to be removed so that we can quote appropriately. 3 Are visible fasteners allowed on wall mounted displays? 4 On Sheet CD.08, what is the intended attachment for the pan sign to the mounting frame which attaches to the wall? The stamped engineering is not clear as it only shows what looks like a Z clip at the top and no detail for the bottom. The design drawings, for example Sheet CD.08, shows a nut at the bottom. Please provide better details of this intended attachment design as it clearly shows no visible fasteners. 5 Your callouts indicate that some signs are to be porcelain on aluminum, however, our manufacture practice is to provide porcelain on steel. Would steel be an acceptable substitute to have porcelain attached to? 6 For suspended double-faced signs, do they require a back? Design drawings do not show a back. We just want to confirm. 7 For Sign XID., our understanding is that if you want these to be ADA compliant, they can t be cast. We can need (SIC) to either etch them either aluminum with raster Braille added or zinc where we can etch the Braille with the plaque. Both are silver metals. So, if the plaques are NOT ADA compliant we can cast them with Braille. Please Advise. Response: Yes, these two terms are synonymous. In most instances, wherever a new sign is being added an existing sign must be removed. Bidders are welcome to walk the Campus to arrive at their own counts. No, fasteners must be hidden. See attached additional schematic, labeled AD1, RFI #4 Response for clarification. Please note the callout highlighted with the red rectangle, the sign is secured with the bolt being backed out into the hole and then capped. No, please provide aluminum as specified. Yes, painted black like the overhead mounting hardware. We do not care about the thickness, just that the backing encloses the fixture to keep dirt, leaves, cob webs, etc. from getting inside. Material must be durable. As per callout C on page CD.07, the design requires Bead Braille/CA Grade to be applied. Manufacture accordingly.
