3 CompanY portrait Quality. made in germany. Headquarters in Schramberg-Tennenbronn/Black Forest Plant in Wernigerode/Harz SCHNEIDER symbolises writing instruments with Made in Germany brand quality. We research, develop and produce solely at our headquarters in Schramberg-Tennenbronn/Black Forest and at our site in Wernigerode/Harz. The family-run business was established in 1938 and employs around 400 staff. Our exceptional product quality which grained great recognition and popularity around 50 years ago in Germany with the comments the good SCHNEIDER refill with the white vest, is being successfully continued by us today, on an international level with our full range of writing instruments. The ballpoint pens, ink rollers, fountain pens, fineliners, highlighters, cartridges and refills meet the highest demands with regard to writing comfort, quality, design and durability in commercial and private sectors, as well as schools. In addition to complete writing instruments we also develop and produce the majority of the product components such as writing tips, ink regulators and ink feeds as well as housing parts ourselves. Our continuous research work, our quality concept and our technical innovations result in future-oriented writing instruments that are also regularly awarded design prizes. The new ID series was presented with the 2009 ISPA Innovation Award. 3

4 CoRpoRate philosophy assuming responsibility is part of our nature. our corporate philosophy has always included a strong sense of responsibility for our environment. our ecological thinking and action shows itself throughout our company and in our product concepts. that is why we offer more than just a green product line. During the conceptual planning of our writing instruments, we pay particular attention to the durability of the writing instrument and its inner components, as well as the issue of recycling and the disposal of waste in an environmentally friendly way. schneider has already been certified according to the world s strictest environmental management system emas for more than 10 years. it is the first and only company in the writing instruments sector to hold this certification. our goal is the continuous improvement of direct and indirect environmental services, environmentally friendly handling of natural resources, the efficient use of energy as well as the reduction of waste and emissions. in tennenbronn we work for instance, with electricity from regenerative energy. purchased electricity is produced entirely from hydropower and we also produce energy ourselves with a photovoltaic system. at both sites, the sprues of the writing instruments during the injection moulding process are automatically ground and thus recycled directly. our products and packaging are free from pvc and colorants containing cadmium. many of our writing instruments are easy to refill. in June 2008, we received the fourth emas revalidation in tennenbronn and the second in wernigerode, which also includes iso certification. all relevant environmental services are documented in our environmental declaration and its annual supplements. this can be requested from us or downloaded at we are a member of the German environmental management association (B.a.u.m.). 4
