File Modify Display Draw Inq-Set Pnts Profiles Design Sections Misc SurvCADDR Section - Profile Module PRODUCT DESCRIPTION engineeringsoftwareforanexpandinguniverse The Section - Profile Module creates existing profiles and cross-sections from aerial photogrammetry maps, existing or digitized contours maps, field data, grid & TIN files and existing profile and cross-section sheets. These are plotted with grid lines or placed on standard plan & profile sheets. The Section - Profile Module contains powerful design features for sewer, pipe, road and template design including built-in AASHTO parameters, centerline conversions, multiple groundline, offset groundline and vertical profiles, advanced icon based complex multi-layered/material template design, super elevations, transitions, spirals, terracing, end area volumetrics, compute haul factors, offset/elevation report/plot, section conversions, in-depth reports and draw/ annotation options for all items. BENEFITS & ADVANTAGES Road Design in SurvCADD is a simple fill-in-the blank process accomplished within the command Earthworks & Final Contours. The necessary input elements of road design - centerline, profile, template and existing ground sections - are all defined in one dialog box. Changes in template design are displayed visually as you create the template. SurvCADD s template creation is the most visually interactive design road design package working inside AutoCAD. With SurvCADD you can quickly generate profile or section data directly from photogrammetry contours without requiring a triangulation file. SurvCADD uses points located within any search distance on C/L to create profiles or cross-sections. You design the Road/Sewer Profiles on-screen with SurvCADD s unique sidebar readout of the current station, elevation, and slope data. Vertical curves are designed using sight distance, K-value, unequal curves, or through point methods. Using Earthworks & Final Contours you can easily apply road profile and ties design template to existing site cross-sections and generate finished grade cross-sections & contours, trimmed to limits of disturbed area with volumes. End area volumes are computed instantly between any two stored cross-section files while plotting includes up to four cross-sections files at a time, along with all elevations and descriptions.

Profile Menu Profile Defaults - Preset default horiz. and vert. scales, profile layers, road/sewer labeling, grid or sheet plotting.... Profile from Surface Entities - Profile created from picking a polyline or alignment file (*.CL), then selecting ridge lines and contours (lines, 3D & 2D Polylines) that intersect this alignment. Stores profiles quickly and accurately from extremely large contour maps without creating a FLT or Grid model. Profiles can be generated along any polyline or alignment file with tangents, horizontal curves and spirals. Profile from 2D Polyline - Stores a profile from any plotted profile. Important for storing to a file an existing plotted profile from an old plan & profile sheet or profiles received from external sources. Profiles can be replotted at any horiz. and vert. scale and used for design. Profile from 3D Polyline - Stores profile as stations & offsets from a 3D polyline. Prompts for a starting station. Profile from 3D Points - Profile is stored from points, entered as point numbers or picked from 3D entities. Profile from Section File - Creates profiles from stored SurvCADD section files (*.SCT). Profiles are created at 0 offset (centerline) or at any offset L or R. Profile from Grid or FLT file - Surface models stored as Grid or FLT files in the DTM/Contour module can be used to create profiles. Grid or FLT files need not be plotted on screen for creating profiles. Profile from Pts on Centerline - Profile created from picking a polyline or alignment file (*.CL), then selecting points along centerline. An offset search distance left & right of centerline is entered and all points found within search distance are stored as station and elevation along centerline. Alignment (*.CL) or centerline polylines can be composed of tangents, horizontal curves and spirals. Profile from Layers - Similar to Profile from Surface Entities except you specify those layers to be tested for intersects. Profile from Pipe Polylines - Creates a new type of profile for pipes that contains station-elevation positions and the pipe width where pipes cross the centerline. Draw Profile draws pipe symbols at these points without connecting the points. Enter Profile On-Screen - Enter or pick station, elevation and percent slope for profile grades. Powerful design/drawing tool for entering/picking profiles for ditches, channel or any grade not related to road, sewer or pipe profiles. Profiles can be plotted on grid or profile sheet at any horizontal and vertical scale. Total undo capability with constant reporting of station, elevation, increment distance and slope printouts as cursor is dragged on grid or profile sheet. Design Road Profile - Design and plot road vertical alignments on grid or profile sheet at any horizontal and vertical scale. Great for recreating existing designs or entering as built conditions. Constant reporting of station, elevation, increment distance and slope printouts as cursor is dragged on grid or profile sheet. Total undo capability. Vertical curve lengths are entered directly or calculated by entering desired minimum sight distance or K value required. AASHTO speed tables for minimum sight distances or K values are available for review and use. Design Sewer/Pipe Profile - Design and plot sewer/pipe vertical alignments on grid or profile sheet at any horizontal and vertical scale. Great for inputting and plotting any existing sewer or pipe designs or entering as built sewer or pipe conditions. Enter Right of Way - Input right of way relative to a centerline by entering station and offset. Draws right of ways as polylines and labels points. Right of way data is stored in a centerline file. Polyline to Right of Way - Calculates the station-offset for each point on a polyline relative to a centerline and stores this information as a right-of-way in a centerline file. Earthworks & Final Contours plots the calculated cut and fill volumes, creates final grade cross-sections and design coordinate points, trimming existing contours in disturbed area and tying proposed contours to existing contours. 4

Design Menu Label/Draw Right of Way - Draws right of ways stored in a centerline file as polylines and labels the station-offsets. Design Template - This new routine overhauls template design with a graphical interface and every detail we could find. any number of elements can be added to the template including grades, curbs and medians. Any number of subgrades can also be specified. Cut and fill treatment handles multiple slopes as well as ditches, berms and guardrails. Pivot points for superelevation in surface and subgrades can be entered. Treatment for right of ways can be specified. Draw Typical Template - Draws and annotates a template file with grades, curbs, medians, subgrades and cut/fill slopes. Options to show normal template, superelevation, or details. Input/Edit Superelevation - Stores superelevation file (*.SUP) for an existing centerline alignment file (*.CL) that defines the properties for superelevation along that centerline. Locate Template Points - Runs the template design and creates points at the specified station interval and offset. Earthwork & Final Contours - Totally rewritten to handle new templates. New options include rock section file, template point profiles, draw cross section 3D polylines and starting/ending stations for volumes. Autoruns template along horizontal and vertical alignment files, template ties into existing cross-section file generating earthwork, finished grade cross-sections, 3D plan view plotting of template, stakeout coordinate file and finished grade contours with 3D polyline perimeter drawn for disturbed area. Two output files can be created. A finished grade cross-section file and a finished grade coordinate file. The coordinate file is used for stakeout of template break points. Cut and fill volumes are calculated when autorunning template design. Volumes can include centroid volume calculations and mass haul plotting. 5

Sections Menu Section Defaults - Section layers, reports, grid or sheet plotting, and horizontal and vertical scales are among several settings that may be preset prior to section plotting. Input-Edit Section Alignment - New dialog-based routine for creating and editing section alignment files (.MXS). New options include stations at crossing polylines and offset limits by perimeter polyline. Draw Section Alignment - Added option to label stations parallel or perpendicular to alignment polylines. Sections from Surface Entities - Crosssections are created by selecting a horizontal alignment file (*.MXS) and then selecting those entities (contours and barrier lines) that intersect the selected alignment. Crosssections are stored in a cross-section (*.SCT ) file. Since AutoCAD's initial release of version 12, SurvCADD has been creating crosssections directly from AutoCAD screen entities. Elevation data along a line, 2D or 3D polyline, and 3D mesh that intersects a selected MXS horizontal alignment file is written as station and offset data to a crosssection (*.SCT) file for plotting, earthwork and template design. Sections from Polylines - Converts previously plotted cross-sections stored as AutoCAD drawings to a (*.SCT) file. Pick station, datum elevation point on grid, enter horizontal and vertical scales then pick the cross-section polyline. Important feature for creating cross-section files (*.SCT) from old cross-sections drawings or drawings received from external sources. Sections from Points - Create cross-section file (*.SCT) from screen plotted SurvCADD points along MXS horizontal alignment file. Additional search distance specified ahead and behind for each station. A search distance of 5' from station 1+50 would search for all points a distance specified left or right between stations 1+45 to Sections from Grid or FLT File - Crosssections are created by selecting a MXS horizontal alignment file (*.MXS) and then selecting a stored grid or FLT file. All intersects along the MXS file on the grid and FLT files are stored to a cross-section (*.SCT) file. Sections from Text File - Create cross-sections from ASCII coordinate files. ASCII files must have elevations and stations with offset distance left, center or right in the description. Sections by Layers - Similar to Sections from Surface Entities except you specify which layers to test for intersects found along the MXS horizontal alignment file. Digitize Sections - Digitize sections in plan view from photogrammetry maps or from cross-sections sheets. Digitize end-area volumes by digitizing two cross-sections plotted together on one grid. Section Conversion - Convert cross-section files from external sources (Agtek, Ceal, Moss & RoadCalc) to SurvCADD. Convert SurvCADD cross-section files to RoadCalc files. Also convert SurvCADD cross-section files to SurvCADD point numbers or 3D polylines from a polyline or MXS file. Rock Sections - Input-edit rock section files and overshoot section files for rock cut earthwork quantities. Points on Section - Plots template detail for any template (e.g. road, channel, ditch, tunnel.. ), by station and vertical alignment file. Plots surveyed points as point number, el- 6 evation and station with offset left or right distance on template plotting. Creates offset report for printing or screen plotting for surveyed points along template. Input-Edit Section File - Create a new cross-section file or select any stored cross-section (*.SCT) file for reviewing, modifying and storing revisions. Each selected cross-section station displays the offsets and elevations for that station. The cross-section is screen plotted above the cross-section data in the input-edit box. Draw Section File - Draw cross-section (*.SCT) files to a grid, picked position or to cross-section sheets. Up to four cross-section files plotted together at any horiz. & vert. scales. Elevation plotting at break points, cut & fill, station and horiz. & vert. elevation plotting. Section Report - Reports section data including stations, offsets, elevations and descriptions.

Sections Menu Draw Centroid Point - Draws a point at the centroid of a closed polyline. Design Regrade - Create a regrade crosssection on an existing cross-section plotted at any horizontal and vertical scale with grid. Undo capability with constant station, increment distance from last station picked, elevation, ratio and slope is displayed as cursor is moved including cut and fill quantities in square feet and yards. Stores quantities in earthwork (*.EW) file. New option to hold the elevation and adjust the station. Highway Section Staging - End-area volumes between two cross-section files along a range of stations and for specific offset distances. Calculate Section Volumes - End-area volumes between two cross-sections files for a range of stations. Volume report can be printed, stored to a file and screen plotted. Calculate End-Area - Screen select two cross-sections plotted together to calculate and store their station and cut/fill crosssection values in square feet and square yards to an earthwork (*.EW) file. Selected cross-sections must be plotted together on the same grid but can be plotted at any horizontal and vertical scale, station and datum elevation. "Print EW File Report", calulates end-area volumes from stored earthwork (*.EW) files and prints, screen plots or saves the data to a file. 7
