NYC TOUR SURVIVAL GUIDE: In planning your trip, it s probably best to think of its as an urban hike! NYC varies from very casual to swanky (its totally up to you) but you will be walking and moving a lot under varied weather conditions. Gear:
6 If you are an artist/art student please bring a sketch pad and pencils/charcoal pencils. Do not feel pressured to draw otherwise. Wear comfortable shoes! We will be doing a lot of walking as we visit museums galleries etc, and while we break it up with numerous coffee/rest breaks, you will need to be comfortable. Bring layers: The weather will be varied. It s a New York spring, where the weather there is usually mild and warm but can fluctuate between being freezing and or very warm. Maps: Aside from provided art maps & gallery info: There are many good subway, transit and general maps of the city which can be downloaded as Apps for your smart phone. e.g. NYC Subway and NY Subview etc available on appstore. TIMING & SCHEDULING: Note timing of tour events & locations may change based on conditions, availability, weather etc. While much of the tour is pre-booked, (especially the major museums) business do shut down and locations may change. YOUR TIMING: DO NO BE LATE! Large groups of people are hard to organize & we are on an orchestrated schedule. If you do not turn up on time for our locations we cannot wait for you. If we do not have a firm start time there are always stragglers and then the group schedule devolves. We have posted our contacts to call if you are late (remember you may not have cell coverage in the subway) and we have posted the main locations of our tour for you to catch up wit us. OPTIONAL AGENDA: For non-atelier students: Remember if you are tired or have less interest in an aspect of the tour feel free to dip in and out as suits your fancy. But if doing so please let the tour leaders know when to expect you.
