1 Engineers, are you industry-ready? Technology Centre Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association offers FINISHING SCHOOL IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING About IMTMA Technology Centre: Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (IMTMA) is the single point of contact for the Machine Tool Industry in India. IMTMA Technology Centre has been established at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) campus in Bangalore with the active support of the industry. The objective is to increase competitiveness, enhance efficiency and improve productivity of machine tool builders and manufacturers across the country by providing state-of-the-art training and technology inputs. The Technology Centre is fully equipped with latest equipment and other resources to impart training in all aspects of Machine Tools and Production Technology. The facilities include latest production CNC machinery - CNC Turning Centre & Vertical Machining Centre, CNC & PLC training modules, Pick & Place Robot, CAD/CAM solutions, Cutting Tools, Tool Pre-setter, Setting Probes, CMM & other Metrology equipment.
2 Need for Finishing school The biggest challenge Indian educational system faces today, is employability. One of the major reasons why engineers, even from reputed institutes, are not easily employed is because they lack hands-on skill. Since CNC machines have become the order of the day in most manufacturing industries, there is a need for systematic training with the blend of theory & handson practice including CNC programming, CAD/CAM etc. University trained engineers lack the feel of how things are made and how they fit together. They lack shop floor experience hindering their ability to effectively use CNC machines. A practical oriented training methodology coupled with practice on CNC machines will equip engineers with the right skill sets. Raw Materials Manufacturing Finished Goods Fresh Engineers IMTMA Finishing School Trained Machine Shop Professionals IMTMA s FINISHING SCHOOL IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING Realising the need to enhance the skill sets of fresh engineers in mechanical engineering, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association is offering a finishing school programme, in production engineering on bi - monthly basis. This course will focus on all practical aspects of modern machining from reading an engineering drawing through measurements, CNC programming & operation, process planning, selection of cutting tools & tool materials, optimizing machining parameters, limits, fits & tolerances and GD & T. In addition to the technical inputs, emphasis would be given to develop soft skills as necessary for manufacturing industries. In order to equip the students with practical inputs, hands-on training in production CNC machinery, CAD/CAM systems and other accessories are made a part of the curriculum. Industry visits will be organized to get a feel of an actual production environment. Training Methodology Training in a modern Digital Factory Class room sessions Measurement practices on CMM & other instruments Simulation using SINUTRAIN systems. Hands-on training sessions on CNC Turning Centre & CNC Vertical Machining Centre Hands-on sessions in CAD/CAM programming systems Real time machining of components on CNC machines Industry visits & Project work.
