MATHEMATICS LAB KIT FOR STUDENTS XIV / 708 B, Metro Point, Ist Floor, Near Metro Station Opp. Sree Mahavishnu Temple, Thaikkattukara. P.O Muttom, Aluva, Ernakulam, Kerala, Pin Dear Sir/Madam, Ph: , , Mob: isrtcochin@gmail.com, Mathematics being a compulsory subject of study, access to quality mathematics education is every child's right. On the other hand, mathematics education in our schools is beset with problems. Due to the hierarchy of concepts and largely deductive and abstract nature of the subject, mathematics is considered as a very dull and difficult subject. A phobia has been created in the minds of the children that mathematics is tough to learn. As a result, most of the students are not taking interest in the subject and it has become one of the main cause of student's failure in mathematics. Institute of Scientific Research and Training is the promoter of Mathematics Lab which is developed as per the guidelines and parameters of NCERT, New Delhi. ISRT maths lab is also approved by several State Government Educational agencies. ISRT has organised Mathematics Lab kit exhibition in 15 states across India. Each exhibition was attended by state educational heads, eminent mathematicians and hundreds of Mathematics teachers. ISRT is also the supplier of Mathematics Lab to government schools and agencies. Dr. Hukum Singh (Former Dean - Academics, Professor & Head - Dept. of Edu. in Science & Mathematics, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.) Alpha 2 Omega Mathematics Lab kit developed by ISRT, is a good tool for school students for understanding various concept in Mathematics. It creates interest in joyful learning by doing Mathematics and removes fear and phobia about Mathematics.

Why Mathemathics lab kit? Mathematics Lab kit is standard wise I-X and syllabus based. It helps the students to demonstrate abstract mathematical ideas by using concrete Objects, Models, Charts, Graphs, Pictures, Posters etc. It helps the students to create interest for mathematics in their tender and fear ridden minds and make complicated things simple & easy. Math lab kit make mathematics more interesting for students, removes math phobia and help them excel in their daily math activities. Experimental and activity based, Alpha 2 Omega Math Lab kit makes your child to remember the math concepts for long term in his/her permanent Brain memory. It provides an opportunity for the students to discover through doing. In many of the activities, students learn to deal with problems while doing concrete activity, which lays down a base for more abstract thinking. It encourages students to become autonomous learners and allows a student to learn at his or her own space. Because of the larger time available individually to the student, it gives an opportunity to repeat an activity several times, students can revise and rethink the problem and solution. This helps to develop metacognitive abilities in students. It builds up interest and confidence in the students in learning and doing mathematics. It provides opportunity to students to understand and appreciate the applications of mathematics in their surroundings and real life situations. These activities involves both the mind and hands of the student working together, which facilitates cognition. The National Curriculum Framework for school education (NCFSE) developed by NCERT emphasizes that mathematics learning should be facilitated through activities from the very beginning of school education. These activities may involve the use of concrete materials, models, patterns, charts, pictures, posters, games, puzzles and experiments.

MATHEMATICS LAB KIT CONTENTS 1. Mathematical lab models: Each models are packed seperately and an item wise card is enclosed. Please ensure that after demonstrating the model, place back the items in the same cover. All the lab models are packed in a seperate box. You can make more models of your own or replicate the same models and discover and learn mathematics through activites. 2. Demonstration Charts: The demonstration and the explanatory charts of the lab models are enclosed in a seperate packet. Using these charts as model charts, you can make your own charts, for doing the exercise. 3. Demonstration Notes: The working principles and the method of demonstration is detailed in the demonstration book. 4. Demonstration DVD: A separate DVD is also enclosed for the video tutorials of the working principle and the demonstration of the models given. You can go through the video tutorials of each model seperately. 5. Project Book: In the project book, some projects are given to build the connection between home and school while providing opportunities for students to solve problems, develop math concepts and strategies. 6. Work Board: A work board which is to be used as the demonstration board is enclosed to place the model and do the exercise. 7. Web page registration: Individual ID for web page registration for one web site. This helps the students to post their project details and get the assistance online. Your user ID and code is enclosed in a seperate cover. Open the cover and use the given information for the web registration. 8. Talent Hunt question paper: Check your Mathematical & reasoning ability by answering the 20 challenging questions inside the box and win fabulous prizes. Answer the questing paper given inside the kit and send it with in one week from the date of purchase of the kit to the given address.

9. Virtual Lab: Introducing virtual mathematical lab for the first time. There are now 26 virtual maths labs which covers all areas of maths such as numbers, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, statistics and coordinate geometry. You are able to take print outs of these accurate diagrams and charts. This will help the students to prepare mathematical notes with accurate diagrams such as rectangle, circle, triangle, rhombus, quadratic equations, factors of numbers HCF, LCF, parallelogram with all the steps of calculations etc. A student while using these labs enjoys the subject due to its interactive nature. These days the children are visual learners. So they prefer to learn better while they see the figures, shapes, charts etc. These labs can also be used as a very good mathematics reference material, for eg. If you want to know the number of prime numbers upto 1000 a list of prime numbers between and 15000, all these results are available at the convenience of a mouse click. The following are the virtual labs:- Virtual Lab 1 Divisibility: Find the factors of a number (below 5000), check whether a number is prime or composite. Virtual Lab 3 Roman numeral: Write : a number as a roman numeral. Virtual Lab 5 LCM & HCF: Calculate the least common multiple and the highest common factor. Virtual Lab 7 Algebra: Solution of a quadratic equation, find the nature of roots, step by step solution.z Virtual Lab 9 Right triangle: Construct a right angled triangle with the given measures, find the perimeter and area etc. Virtual Lab 2 Prime numbers: Find the factors of a number (below ), list of prime numbers, nth prime number etc. Virtual Lab 4 Multiples: Find the multiples, square, square root, cube, cube root etc. Virtual Lab 6 Fractions: Represent a fraction by shading the part of a circle. Virtual Lab 8 Rectangle: Construct a rectangle with the given measures, find the perimeter and area etc. Virtual Lab 10 Circle: Construct circle, find area and circumference.

Virtual Lab 11 Rhombus: Construct rhombus, find area and perimeter. Virtual Lab 13 Triangle and its parts: Construct a triangle, medians, altitudes, incircle, circumcircle etc. Virtual Lab 15 Scalene(irregular) triangle: Construct scalene triangle.
