2 1. In a new drawing file, set units and limits and draw the following sheet layout. The positions of the borderlines should conform to layout standards. For example, we will be using an 8.5 x 11 paper size with the printable equal to the border as shown. 10" " 1 2 " 3 4 " 1" 1 2 " " 2. After drawing the sheet layout, move the bottom-left corner to the origin (0,0) and SAVE and submitbthe drawing as H1 in your working folder or on your USB Drive. 3 1. Open the problem from Lab G and save it as Lab H2 and draw the above elevation directly below the floor plan. The fascia board is 6 and the max. height of the door and windows is 6-8. a. Use your floor plan as a reference for the necessary dimensions. NOTE: windows/ door on the floor plan and elevation need to match up. b. Use hatching to show the roof type and siding material(s). Be creative. c. Add details to the windows and doors and be creative there too. 2. Draw the door and window blocks in the Interiors layer with the following dimensions. If you draw the blocks in the correct layer initially, it will save you a lot of work later. Note that these are for reference and there will to be more than the 3 types below. (3 doors, 3 windows) DOOR D1 2" 8" 1" 2" 3" 2 WINDOW 4 4" 8" NOTE: If you make all windows and swinging doors the same, the only difference will be the widths. Also, to prevent overlapping lines, trim out the wall where you are going to insert the blocks (important for colordependent plotters). 3 WINDOW 3. Use the Attdef command to define Attributes as per the table below for the two windows and the door. Click on the Pick Point button and choose an Insertion Point in the vicinity of the item, and set the Text Options (Style, Ht = 8 ). Wblock these items by selecting the attribute definition and the objects of each item one at a time and name them as D1-3x7.dwg, -6x4.dwg, and -4x4.dwg, respectively into any folder. While creating blocks choose insertion points that are on the outer periphery of the object, e.g., midpoint for windows and corner for doors. 3

4 5. Insert these blocks one at a time, at the appropriate locations in the plan shown below, on a layer called Openings. After selecting the point of insertion, AutoCAD will prompt for the name. Pressing spacebar once will accept the value set for each block. 6. Make sure all your other objects are on appropriate layers. The bathroom fixtures on the Interiors layer, walls on the First Floor Plan layer, text boxes on the Text layer, and dimensions on the Dimensions layer. Either select all objects and change the layer, or change one and use Match Properties command. 7. In the drawing, different blocks and respective attributes have been created for each change in orientation of the opening, so that all the associated texts are horizontal. 8. To get underlined text, prefix and suffix the text with <%%u>. Add a Window and Door Schedule by clicking on Draw>Table and creating a table with 4 Columns and 3 Data Rows. Double click on each cell to add data, ensure that the text style is the one you made in Lab G (not standard ). The Label and Size data needs to be consistent, but you can make up the Make and Model info. After making one table, Copy it, attach it to the original, and edit the text. 5 For printing a drawing, you will need to understand: The concept of scales Differences between Model Space and Layout (Paper) Space, and Working with Layouts. In the Problem H2 drawing, go to the Main menu, select Tools>Wizards>Create Layout. Click Next. 10. Select the correct CIRCA printer from the list (e.g \\UFL\wei ) click Next. 11. Select paper size, drawing units, and click Next. 12. Select orientation and click Next. 13. In the title block, select the None option and click Next. 14. On the next screen, select the scale to suit the dimensions of the drawing and choose 1/8 =1, and click Next. 15. Click on Select Location and select the boundaries of the layout from bottom-left corner to top-right corner. 5

6 16. Click Finish to end the Wizard 17. AutoCAD will show the drawing in the Model-space in this Layout, The dashed line is the printable area which differs from printer to printer. The solid line within the dotted line is the viewport border and is generally referred to as the viewport. 18. In order for us to print this drawing, three actions need to be performed: Switch to Model-space (if in Paper-space ) by clicking on the PAPER button on the bottom status bar. Activate the Viewports toolbar. The viewport should be given a proper scale, so change the scale to 1:100. (Right-click on the top toolbars and check Viewport to activate it). A sheet layout needs to be inserted by switching back to Paper space 19. Make the viewport layer non-plotable by: Invoking the Layer Properties Manager window Creating a layer named viewport Clicking the plotting icon to off to make the layer non-plotting Selecting the viewport border and putting it into the non-plotting layer (pink on example). 20. Swap between model-space and paper-space to adjust the drawing to fit to scale within the template. 21. On the Main menu select Insert->External Reference and select your H1 file (border drawing) from wherever you saved it to, and insert it at the proper location. Make any appropriate adjustments that are needed. 22. Before Printing, go to Paperspace and create another Viewport by clicking: View>Viewport>1_Viewport. Draw a window on the top right over the title block. Zoom scale the table in its own Viewport until it s legible. See example below for placement. Note that there are 2 Viewports on the Template, Each shown in pink (Viewport Layer) while the paper s limits are also in pink. This is essentially what you should see while in Paperspace and right before you print 23. Your paper-space should look like this: 6

After making adjustments, the drawing will be ready for plotting (printing). Obtain a hard copy of the drawing and submit it along with the electronic copy.
