2 Core Argo, Deep and Bio/BGC Argo We consider research targets to clarify global/regional scale oceanic variability associated with climate and ocean environment changes by core Argo and Argo extensions. a) Core Argo Ocean circulation Changes in temperature and salinity b) Bio/BGC Argo Global carbon cycle Ocean acidification Bio diversity c) Deep Argo Global deep ocean circulation Anthropogenic carbon sinking Carrying out with the research tools of ships, mooring, satellite observations and data assimilation models.

9 Outreach and collaboration for Argo Many Argo floats are deployed by voluntary ships, while students in fishery schools learn Argo and climate change. User meeting is held for research scientists, graduate students, and manufacturer to get better understanding for Argo. 10 Future deployment plan In FY2016, JAMSTEC plans to deploy about 23 floats (iridium+ctd) for core Argo mainly in the North Pacific. 2 or 3 Deep NINJA and 1 Deep APEX with Oxygen will deploy as Argo equivalent float in the Southern Ocean and North Pacific Ocean. 1 BGC float (iridium+do, Chl-a, bb) will deploy in the North Pacific.
