1 THE GREAT FIFTH GRADE BOOK CHALLENGE (G5GBC) Directions: Choose which badge you d like to earn first. Read the required amount. Ask your teacher for a reading conference and answer his or her questions about the books. Collect them all, and wait for new badges to be revealed! Wally Q. Earn your badge by reading two kid friendly cookbooks. (You must prepare, with an adult's supervision, two recipes for your family!) The titles/authors I read and recipes I tried: Snuffles McGee, Private Investigator Snuffles McGee has been solving crimes since he was a little pup and somebody stole his chew toy. He's been solving mysteries ever since! (Read three mysteries and he'll make you his junior partner!)

4 Eloise Parker-Mosby Eloise has been reading since she was three and a half years old. There isn't a historical fiction book in her school or public library that she hasn't read! She wants to be a famous writer when she grows up. (Read two historical fiction books and she'll send you an autographed copy of her first book!) Ms. Tiger Lily Purrvis

5 Tiger Lily loves reading informational texts. She learns valuable knowledge such as how to annoy the neighbor's dog and the history of cats throughout history. She hopes to host her very own YouTube cat channel! (Read three informational texts and Tiger Lily will teach you how to jump on top of the refrigerator!) Mona Rita Rheesus Mona Rita adores having a good cry. And nothing makes hear sob harder than reading realistic fiction. Read three realistic fiction books and she'll bake you a batch of brownies, pour you a cup of tea, and offer you a shoulder to cry on!

6 Percival Waddleston, Jr. Percival Waddleston, Jr., or P.J. to his friends, is a huge fan of biographies and autobiographies. From Presidents to Broadway stars, Percy loves to read about the lives of famous women and men. Read two titles in this genre and P.J. will teach to you to slide down an iceberg on your belly! Patricia Perry Putyplas Patty loves diving into a good fantasy book a good fantasy. Her local librarian in Australia knows her by name and can barely keep up with her love of magic and mayhem. Read

7 three fantasies and Patty will take you on a fantastic tour of the rivers of Australia and Tasmania! Henry Wadsworth Shortfellow Henry is a born poet. He is an artist with words and images. His first poem, An Ode to Cheese, was published when he was five and won a poetry contest. He is currently writing a slim collection of poems called Pasta Romance: or Lasagnas I Have Loved. Read three collections of poems and Henry will bake you his favorite roasted vegetable lasagna!
