1 Central Coast Woodturners California Bits and Pieces of March & April 2017 The members of CCW wish again to thank Dennis & Leslie Ivans for their hospitality to Derek Weidman and to the viewers of the demonstration. To recap the that demo would take hours of one finger typing so we ll try. All the work done is on the lathe, he does do some embellishments with coloring and abrasive tools. His work is strictly off the cuff, for his demo he started off with a cube of Oak roughly 7x7x7 and took a suggestion from one of our members, an Elephant Seal, his first exposure to it was on his I phone. Dennis and Jerry Werner took Derek to see the seals on the coast the next day. The second project was a 5 different axis turning which is his product resembling Spartacus, without stopping often to explain his moves he completed it in less than an hour.

4 Announcements and updates AAW has announced a special recruitment option. The challenge was cast upon CCW and A Colorado chapter of which he held dual memberships. The challenge is to make available spinning tops that will be given to friends and relatives at Sam s sons wedding in September as a remembrance to his father Our quota is 75 to match Clolorado 75.
