1 Lot # China Mint, Reno Catalog #: N5014 Mold: Small Crown Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $100 From: 1960 The China Mint was open from 1960 to 1963 on North Lake Street. It had formerly been know as the Mint Club until Frank Chung bought it and renamed it in Shortly thereafter, Chung and his partners moved the club a few doors down into the Lido Hotel, into the space formerly occupied by the Happy Buddha Club. This 10-center and a $5 chip are the only ones known to have been used there. It s very unusual to find one in this kind of condition. Lot #017 $5 Circus Room, Lake Tahoe Catalog #: N3194 Mold: Zigzag Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $150 From: 1952 The Circus Room, on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, was open from 1952 to 1960 and later became Barney s. This 50-yearold first issue chip is a red zigzag mold and it s in beautiful condition. Lot #018 n/d Clarkston Golf & Country Club, Clarkston, WA Catalog #: n/a Mold: Crest & Seal Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $200 From: 1930 s The Clarkston Golf and Country Club was built in 1933 alongside the Snake River. This beautiful blue crest & seal is in beautiful condition. 2 Lot #019 n/d Club Bingo, Las Vegas Catalog #: N6686 Mold: Small Crown Condition: Average Est. Value: $75 From: 1964 The Club Bingo was open on Fremont Street from 1962 to It was next door to the Pioneer, which eventually bought this club and expanded into its space. There were two small crowns used there this non-denomination chip and a 12½ cent chip (one of only two used in Nevada.) One theory is that these non-denominated pieces were used as a 25 chips, since no chips of that denomination were used there. Lot #020 n/d Club Cal Neva, Reno Catalog #: V8289 Mold: H Condition: Worn Est. Value: $125 From: 1950 s Lavender is the only listed color of H-mold roulettes to have been in play at the Club Cal-Neva, and this one s a beauty! 3 Lot #021 $5 Club Royale, Palm Beach, FL Catalog #: n/a Mold: Plain Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $250 From: 1960 s The Club Royale began sailing on July 1, 1995 and operated for exactly one month doing twice-a-day cruises to nowhere. On August 2, 1995, the 234- foot vessel sank before dawn in the rough seas churned up by Hurricane Erin, about 90 miles east of Port Canaveral, Florida. Most of the chips went down with the ship, and the survivors such as this one are considered quite rare. Lot # chips Colorado Catalog #: n/a Mold: Various Condition: Various Est. Value: $50 From: Various Here s a nice selection of 10 $1 s and $5 s from Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. 4 Lot # Confucius Club, Reno Catalog #: not listed Mold: Hourglass Condition: Average Est. Value: $600 From: 1957 Here s a genuine rarity from Reno there are a total of five these dimes known to exist. This small club/cafe operated at 222 Lake Street in Reno in 1957, apparently for one year or less. The location was earlier the site of the Lido Club, and later the Happy Buddha Club. The Confucius Café is listed in the 1957 Reno City Directory, but did not last long enough to find its way into a phone book. Lot #024 n/d Country Club, Lake Tahoe Catalog #: V6639 Mold: T Condition: Average Est. The casino was in operation for just two years, This blue rectangle mold $1 is quite scarce and is in better condition than is normally seen. Value: $ 50 From: various The Crystal Bay Club is a famous old-time club on the North side of Lake Tahoe that recently reopened (originally opened in 1953). Value: $ 100 From: n/a This is a very desirable and hard to get complete set of 8 different color Roulette chips from table #1 at the luxurious Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, Nassau Bahamas. Most Roulette tables only have 6 colors of chips in use, but this table sports 8 different colors of chips. Value: $ 100 From: n/a Here are the same 8 colors as the lot above, but marked #2 for use at Roulette table 2 at the Crystal Palace Casino. This Casino has 7 Roulette tables with both Single 0 (European style) and Double 00 (American style) wheels in use. The Crystal Palace is one of the largest Casinos in the Bahamas. Lot #029 $25 Debbie Reynolds Casino, Las Vegas Catalog #: N2715 Mold: Hat & Cane Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $200 From: 1994 The Debbie Reynolds Casino was on Convention Center Drive, just off the Strip. Value: $125 From: 1981 This beautiful green-on-green coin-center chip from the DI features the Joshua Tree logo above the denomination. Lot #031 $100 Wilbur Clark s Desert Inn, Las Vegas Catalog #: N9555 Mold: Diamond Condition: Average Est. Value: $400 From: 1950 This is a first issue chip from the Desert Inn, a tan diamond mold that has been drilled with a small hole in order to be used as a keychain. Value: $150 From: 1950 s Here is another first issue chip from the Desert Inn that has likewise been drilled to accommodate a keychain. On one side of this chip is an interesting plastic inlay that appears to be an advertisement for Wilbur Clark s Desert Inn. The actual keychain fob is in the shape of a horseshoe. Lot #033 $25 Wilbur Clark s Desert Inn, Las Vegas Catalog #: N0740 Mold: Diamond Condition: Average Est. Value: $200 From: 1950 s This green diamond mold is a third example of a first edition chip from the Desert Inn that has been drilled in order to be used as a keychain. Value: $8,000 From: 1965 This gorgeous piece is listed in The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide as a 4 th issue R- 10. It uses the very rare rectangle and hearts mold and is in incredible condition. Several were found about a year or so ago, but this remains an ultra-rare and highly desirable chip. Lot #035 $1 Diamond Jim s, Jackpot Catalog #: N3728 Mold: Christy & Jones Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $100 From: 1960 This is a first issue gray Christy and Jones with 3 green inserts from Diamond Jim s. The club was open for just 5 years, from 1960 to As with many C&J s, the hotstamp on this one was very light and is worn in spots, although the chip itself is in marvelous condition. Value: $500 From: 1994 The beautiful conquistador series of chips from the El Cortez from the mid 60 s bore the classic image of the helmeted Spanish warriors. This sample, in gorgeous condition, is the most accessible of the value chips with the concuistador logo (the only one with a 3-figure price tag). Value: $175 From: 1964 Okay, this El Cortez $1 is in rough shape but just about all of em look like this. This mustard and gray half-pie was made with Christy & Jones hat and cane mold and is a 6 th issue chip. Lot #040 $25 El Rancho Vegas, Las Vegas Catalog #: N7235 Mold: Small Key Condition: Average Est. Value: $ 400 From: 1947 The die-cut metal inlaid chips from the El Rancho Vegas are some of the most beautiful chips ever made. The intricacy if the windmill on the obverse of the chip is nothing short of astounding. This lavender chip in the small Greek key mold is truly a work of art. Value: $250 From: 1944 The El Rancho Vegas was the first of the Strip hotels, opening on April 3, In 1944, they introduce onto the tables this series of chips in the diamonds and squares mold (succeeding the diamond mold first and second issues.) Lot #042 $25 El Rancho Vegas, Las Vegas Catalog #: N7236 Mold: Small Key Condition: Average Est. Value: $750 From: 1947 Here is the off-white companion to the chip in lot #40, showing the same intricate work on the diecut metal inlay. 14 Lot #043 $5 El Rancho Vegas, Las Vegas Catalog #: N1562 Mold: Large Crown Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $ 300 From: 1949 This beautiful 8 th issue purple large crown features the El Rancho Vegas windmill logo on the reverse side. It is in slightly used condition and is listed as an R-7 on the rarity scale (ie: it s very tough to find!) Lot #044 $5 El Rio Club, Las Vegas Catalog #: N6501 Mold: Rectangle Condition: Well Used Est. Value: $ 150 From: 1954 The El Rio Club was located in an area of Las Vegas that was known at the Westside. This neighborhood catered to a Black clientele and the El Rio likely competed for business with other clubs in the vicinity such as the El Morocco Club, the Louisiana Club, the Town Tavern, the Little Casino, and the Brown Derby. This first issue $5 is a gray rectangle mold with 4 purple inserts is a tough one to find! Lot #045 $5 Eldorado Hotel Casino, Reno Catalog #: N5704 Mold: Large Key Condition: Slightly Used Est. Value: $250 From: 1970 s This is a 3 rd Issue chip from the Eldorado and the rarest of the beautiful large key series, featuring an image of the conquistador and a fuchsia denomination. 15 Lot #046 $5 Flamingo Hilton, Las Vegas Catalog #: N1590 Mold: House Condition: Average Est. Value: $300 From: 1973 On July 14 th, 1970, Kirk Kirkorian signed an agreement with Baron Hilton for the sale of the both Flamingo and the International. The official name change to Flamingo Hilton took place in 1971 and the chips used at that time had the same pink flamingo facing left inlay as the 11 th issue 50-center in lot #51 but used the Hilton house mold. This chip is quite scarce, listed as an R-6 in C&W. Lot #047 $5 Flamingo, Las Vegas Catalog #: N1607 Mold: H Condition: Average Est. Value: $500 From: 1948 This 5 th issue H-mold from the Flamingo was in play in the late 1940 s. It is blue with 3 light green inserts and has a drill hole cancellation. Still, this beauty features the early logo of a flamingo on a black background and is in very nice condition. Lot #048 $5 Flamingo, Las Vegas Catalog #: N1601 Mold: Rectangle Condition: Average Est. Value: $300 From: 1949 Here s a 6 th issue red rectangle mold with 3 blue inserts. This chip also features the flamingo logo on a black background and is cancelled with a drill hole. Value: $2,000 From: 1947 On the night of December 26 th, 1946, Bugsy Siegel s dream, the Flamingo Hotel, opened on Highway 91 in the middle of the desert. On the tables that night were plain mold chips with die cut metal inlays. Soon after that these small keys hit the tables and are listed as the second issue. Here is a nice example with one small edge flake. A great opportunity for you to own a chip that was in play during Bugsy s short tenure at the Flamingo. Lot # Flamingo, Las Vegas Catalog #: N4131 Mold: H Condition: New Est. Value: $400 From: 1949 This is a 7 th issue chip from the Flamingo, a pink H-mold 50-center in new condition.
