The St. Helena Antiques Richard Larson Auction of Wine Related Antiques & Artifacts December 5, 2009 at 10am Previews: December 4-5 This unique collection of winemaking and winerelated antiques was assembled by Richard Larson, owner of the St. Helena Antiques in Napa Valley, California. This is the first collection of its kind to be offered on the auction block. American and European corkscrews, hand-blown glass bottles and handmade barrels, viticultural and oenological highlights include antique wine presses, copper distilling equipment, copper backpack and horse drawn sprayers, donkey packs, agricultural implements, cellar equipment, stemmer crushers, period photographs, advertisements and posters. Highlighting the sales is a Spanish Colonial Vargueno standing over 5 ft tall, richly decorated in two parts and dates from the 17 th century, a George Lepape (France, ) Original artwork from the November 1925 Cover of British Vogue Magazine. One of the strongest motoring images to grace the cover of Vogue, this image also called "Robe optique assortie a la carrossorie', depicts the Art Deco optical dress and matching color scheme on coachwork of the Voisin car, designed by Sonia Terk Delaunay. This artwork is featured on page 146 of "The Art of Vogue Covers " by William Packer, and is sighted as "the 'Motoring' cover to beat them all." Also on offer is an exquisite Jewelry Shakudo Suite, comprising of 15 shakudo plaques - the plaques perfectly reflect the Japanese design tenants embraced by western consumers in the Aesthetic period of the late 19 th century.
