1 ACN Summer of 14 A Wonderfully Crazy Game Several Arkansas players participated in the recent Oklahoma Championship in Stillwater. The last round featured a wild game enjoyed immensely by the many spectators. It was between Arkansas rising young player Alex Wolf and young star Kiana Hajiarbabi of Oklahoma via Iran. It started out calm enough, with the ultra solid fianchetto Vienna Game. Alex built up a nice position with a coming pawn storm attack on Kiana s king. But Alex got a little careless, and Kiana obtained queenside counterplay. Then things got amazingly complicated, just as (wouldn t you know) both players were falling into time trouble. The dozens of spectators were treated to an exiting performance! Thanks to Alex for sending me this game. (Annotated game next page.)
