1 Part II English Chess on 100 squares board Moldavian version Play Chess on 100-Squares board Moldavian version! Moldova is the Native Land of Chess on 100-squares board. It was introduced in Kishinev in 1990 on the proposal of coach and father of women European Champion Grandmaster Almira Skripchenko, Merited coach of Republic of Moldova Feodor Skripchenko. Thus, what is the innovation in chess made by Feodor Skripchenko? Feodor Skripchenko introduced a new chess piece called Rocket and the play with new piece passed on a 100-sqares board. On starting position new piece Rocket is arranged black: d1 and g1 wait: d10, g10

2 The author of this innovation is a well-known chess organizer, international arbiter Mr. Skripchenko who is working for 50 years in chess area, and the last 45 years is the permanent General Secretary of the Chess Federation of Moldova. Feodor Skripchenko was the president of the Moldavian Chess Federation (1966), director of the Chess Club of Republic of Moldova ( ). More than 10 years he worked as a coach of Moldavian Scholastic team. He organized about 100 different international tournaments. In 1995 in Moscow on the 66th FIDE Congress Feodor was elected FIDE Zone 1.8 President. In 1997, on Mr. Skripchenko initiative, the 68 th FIDE Congress was organized in Kishinev, which was recognized to be historical. In June 2005 on his initiative in Chisinau was organized European Women Individual Chess Championship and ECU named this Championship as the best one. Rules of the Game 1. The purpose of chess on 100-squares board is the same as of the classical game on 64-squares board, to deliver a checkmate. 2. The rules of chess on 100-squares board are the same as for 64- squares board, except that in case of the chess on 100-squares board, the right of the first move has the player with the black pieces. 3. On 100-squares board the pieces are placed in the same way as on the 64-squares board, with one difference. First, there are four more pieces: 2 Rockets (Rt) and 2 pawns. Second, the black pieces are positioned on the first rank, and the white pieces on the tenth rank. 4. On 100-squares board each player has 20 dark-colored pieces (the black pieces), the other has 20 light-colored pieces (the white pieces). The pieces are king, queen, 2 rockets, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 10 pawns squares board has the following notation: ten vertical columns of squares called files: a b c d e f g h i k. Ten horizontal rows of squares called ranks: A new piece called Rocket (Rt) is introduced on 100-squares board. Rocket Move This is the Juridical Certification given to Feodor Skripchenko as author-inventor of Moldova s Chess on 100 squares board.

3 So looks out the first picture of the Piece Rocket invented by Feodor Skripchenko. The Rocket moves as Bishop and Knight. (It depends on Player s wish) The initial position of the black Rocket on queenside is on the square d1 next to the Queen and on the kingside on the square g1 next to the King. The initial position of the white Rocket (Rt) on queenside is on the square d10, and on kingside is on the square g10. The power of the new piece equals to 7 units on 64-squares board, i.e. bishop + knight + pawn. 7. The notation on a 100-squares board is as on 64-squars board. The kingside castling is noted 0-0 and queenside castling Kingside castling is the move of the black King from the square f1 to the square h1, and the move of the Rook from the square k1 to the square g1. The queenside castling is the move of the King from the square f1 to d1 and the Rook from the square a1 to the square e1. The new piece Rocket is indicated by the Rt. 8. Differences between classical and 100 squares chess in pawn moves and captures: A. Pawn moves and captures: Considering larger size of the board, a pawn on its first move (unlike in classical chess) can move one, two or three (!) squares (ex. e2-e3, e2-e4 or e2-e5). However, after its initial move a pawn can move only one square at a time, similar to classical chess. Also, similar to classical chess pawn can be promoted by reaching the last rank; in case of 100 square chess, the last rank is 10 th for white or 1 st for black. B. En passant: Unlike in classical chess, a pawn has not one but two opportunities to capture en passant, when opponents pawn moves to the 9 th or 8 th rank. For example, if white pawn will move e9-e6 black pawn from f6 may capture en passant: f6xe7. Likewise, if white pawn will move e9-e7 black pawn from f7 may capture en passant: f7xe8. The remaining rules are identical in both classical and 100- squares chess. ChampionshipS of the City of Kishinev Mr. Skripchenko initiated and organized numerous Moldova s amateur and official chess competitions on100-squares board. The first Champion 96 of the city of Kishinev on 100-squares board was IM Vadim Chernov, with 7 points from 10 possible. The second place was awarded to IM Anatoly Bets with the result of 6 points; on the third place were IM Sergey Tikhomirov and Alexei Diulger with 6 points each. I am assured that Grandmasters and masters looking at such nice combinations on 100 square Chess board certainly will try to play a nice game on 100 squares board with equal chess player: grandmaster or master or amateur of Chess. I whish all of you good success Conclusion The name of the new piece Rocket fully corresponds to the new space rocket era. This innovation on the chessboard discovers new spaces for human thoughts. Furthermore, in the last period of time the chess game was intensely computerized and the results of the games mainly depend of the computer capacities in analyzing the variants and giving assistance. The computerized chess theory limits to a great extent the genuine inventing abilities of human. On a 64-squares board the leading chess players with white pieces can effortlessly make a draw. On 100-squares board they have no chance to do this. I think that the innovation on the chessboard will give a new challenge to people s mind. Due to this we believe that chess game on 100-squares board will become popular among chess amateurs, and different tournaments, championships of the countries and, of course, European and world Championships will be organized. To all chess players, Masters and Grandmaster: I do not ask you to support me, rather I ask you to reed this book and to familiarize with this wonderful game and I am confident that you will support this excellent Game. Good luck to the chess players on 100-squares board Moldova s variant! I would like to personally congratulate the First World Champion of Chess on 100- squares board Moldova s variant but I am afraid I will not live long enough to see this happened. But I believe that the best players of Chess on 100 squares board deserve an honor of the World Championship. If you have any comments and wishes, please, write to the author of this innovation, international arbiter Feodor Skripchenko fskrip@company.md Independency Street 24/1, apt. 22, Chisinau-60, MD-2060, Republic of Moldova.
