Turn this page over for your Math Menu! Must Do All items in this column MUST be completed EVERY NIGHT: Read for at least 20 minutes every night! You may read alone or read to someone else. Write an answer ONE of these questions. Make sure you use details to support your answer and have an adult check your work. Fiction: How do a character s feelings change throughout the story? 3 Card Game: Go Fish For More! Materials Needed: One regular deck of cards (Ace = 1, J =11, Q=12, K=13) Directions for Play: (Best played with 2 4 players) 1. Use the sum Deal out five cards to each player and place the remaining cards in a draw pile. 3. Have each player look through his or her hand of cards to find any number of cards that can add up to the sum of 20 and place them face up in their discard pile. For example, if learning addition facts for the number seven, appropriate pairs would be 6+1, 5+2 or 4+3. The 7 card would also be laid aside as a correct solution that doesn t require a pair. 4. The person to the left of the dealer may now ask any other player for a card that will help create the sum required. If the person asked has the card in his hand, he must give it up to the player that made the request. A player can keep asking for cards until no further matches are able to be made, at which point he is told to Go Fish! from the draw pile and the next player takes a turn trying to make a match. 5. If a player runs out of cards he can choose five more cards from the draw pile to stay in the game. 6. Continue playing until all the cards in the deck have been matched into pairs. The player with the highest number of pairs at the end of the game is the winner.

4 Materials Needed: A copy of the game board (included) More/Less/Compare Directions for Play: (2 players) 1. Use a Number of the Week for your starting number. 2. Cut out the More/Less cards and shuffle the deck. 3. Decide who goes first; that is Player Player 1 should draw a More/Less card from the pile and follow the directions printed on the card. Write your new number in the box. 5. Play moves to Player 2. Player 2 should draw a More/Less card from the pile and follow the directions printed on the card. Write your new number in the box. 6. Decide how to compare your two numbers using (<, >, or =). 7. If the More/Less card cannot be played (i.e your number is too low), draw a new card. 8. Repeat! 9. Whoever has the highest number at the end is the winner!
