July 4 th : Fourth of July: There are 17 students in 14 marching bands that are supposed to be in the Fourth of July parade. 24 students were absent. How many students were in the parade? Extension: Each bus can hold 24 students. How many busses will they need? July 5 th : Farmer's Market: A farmer sold 30 dozen eggs at $1.25 a dozen. How much total money did the farmer receive for his eggs? His expenses are $ How much profit did the farmer make? July 6 th : Operation Web Addition: Write 5 expressions with a sum of 12,340. July 10 th : Word Problem: The cost of admission to a concert is $45 per adult and $25 per child. What will be the admission price for 4 adults and 3 children? July 11 th : Measurement: Find objects in your home that is about 1 foot in length. Extension: How many inches in 3 ½ feet? July 12 th : Farmer's Market: James walked 2 kilometers to the farmer s market. Chad walked 1.3 kilometers. How many more kilometers did James walk than Chad? Extension: How many meters did they walk altogether?

3 July 13 th : Operation Web Subtraction: Write 5 expressions with a difference of 4,500. July 17 th : Word Problem: Lynn spent $4.85 on a hamburger, $1.59 on fries, and $2.35 on lemonade. She gave the vendor $10. How much change did Lynn receive? July 18 th : Sidewalk Chalk Shapes: Draw right, obtuse, and acute angles with sidewalk chalk. Draw isosceles, equilateral, and scalene triangles with sidewalk chalk. Draw quadrilaterals: rhombus, trapezoid, square, and rectangle. July 19 th : Farmer's Market: Suppose Beth has 8 cups of blueberries. If Beth wants to put the blueberries in containers, each of which holds 2/3 of a cup of blueberries, how many containers can she fill? How much will she have leftover to snack on? Extension: If a recipe calls for 2 pints of blueberries, and Beth wants to double the recipe, how many cups will she need? How many ounces of blueberries does she need? July 20 th : Operation Web Multiplication: Write 5 expressions with a product of 10,000. August 1 st : Number Identification How do you write this number in digits? twenty-three thousand, four hundred two and 18 thousandths August 2 nd : Farmer's Market: The ratio of cucumbers to tomatoes to summer squash at a table is 2: 5:3. If there are 10 tomatoes, what is the total number of vegetables on the table? 5 August 8 th and August 22 nd : Digits Game: Players choose a target number, such as 100,000 and rearrange randomly drawn digits to make numbers as close as possible to the target. August 9 th : Farmer's Market: David arranged loaves of bread on14 shelves. He put 1 loaf on the top shelf, 3 loaves on the second shelf, and 5 loaves on the third shelf. If he continues this pattern, how many loaves of bread will he put on the 14 th shelf? Extension: Each loaf of bread sells for $3.35. How much money did David make if he sold all of the loaves of bread? August 14 th : Guess My Number: Max s number is a multiple of 25. Max s number is not a multiple of 50. Max s number is between 200 and 300. Max s number has three different digits. What is Max s number? August 15 th : Word Problem: Joe wants to buy an X-box One that costs $499. He has $342. How much more money does Joe need to buy the game? August 16 th : Farmer's Market: A hot dog vendor sold 26,412 hot dogs on Wednesday. He sold the same number of hot dogs each week. There are 4 weeks in a month. How many hot dogs did he sell in a month? August 21 st : Guess My Unit: It is a measurement of length. It is a customary unit. It is equal to 3 feet. What is my unit? August 23 rd : Farmer's Market: Mrs. Mix set up her tent at the farmer s market at 5:45 am. She took down her tent at 3:27 pm. How long was Mrs. Mix at the farmer s market?
