Get a FREE 32-Minute Coaching Video! If you aren t familiar with Alex Tiper, he has been a coach on my training site, FloatTheTurn.com since Alex is a very successful low stakes online multi-table tournament player. Before Alex became a coach for FloatTheTurn, I actually started coaching him privately on a regular basis. I also recorded these coaching sessions. Now you can get access to our first coaching video FREE! In this 32-minute coaching video, I coach Alex through the early stages of a $55 multi-table tournament that I played online. How to Claim Your FREE 32-Minute Coaching Video: STEP 1: Purchase Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 3 on Amazon: STEP 2: Go here to claim your FREE video:
Preview of Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 3 Rather than tell you about my Kindle book, Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 3, I created this PDF to let you experience it for yourself. This PDF contains 5 complete hand examples taken from the book. The book contains 50 hand examples taken from small stake, fast structured tournaments. If you want to become a large winner at the game, you must learn to think for yourself. My book is laid out so you can think about the play you would make before going to the next page, where my actual play is revealed. You should spend a lot of time thinking about each and every decision in order to come up with your answer, as well as the reason for your answer, before looking at my answer. If your answer differs from mine, try to figure out why. Crushing Small Stakes Poker Tournaments, Volume 3 includes 50 hand examples and is available on Amazon: You can read my Kindle book on your PC, Mac, ipad, iphone, ipod Touch, or Android device. Get Your Free Kindle Reading App Here: If you would like to personally ask me questions, I host a live webinar each month at my training site, FloatTheTurn.com. If you ve never tried my site before, you can sign up for a free 1-month membership by visiting floattheturn.com/free and entering promo code CRUSH. You'll have a full month of access to over 600 poker training videos to help you improve your game. I hope you find these hand examples helpful. Please share this PDF with anyone you think will benefit from reading it. Jonathan Little Follow me on
Situation 003 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 Empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A8s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 30??? Action leading up: There is one limper before the action gets to Hero. What should Hero do?
Response 003 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 Empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A8s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 30 Call 30 Hero s action: Hero completes, hoping to see a cheap flop. Strategic Concept: Implied Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Early Stage. Out of position, it is best to not raise without a strong holding. On the other hand, A8s is too good to fold, making a call best.
Situation 004 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB AQo Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 30 Call 30 Raise to 120??? Action leading up: There are two limps and a raise to 4BBs before the action gets to Hero on the button. What should Hero do?
Response 004 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB AQo Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Call 30 Call 30 Raise to 120 Fold Hero s action: Hero folds. Strategic Concept: Easy Fold and Implied Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Early Stage. The early position limps may or may not be strong. In these low buy-in tournaments, players tend to limp instead of raise in the HJ s situation. When they raise, they tend to have a very strong hand. Assume HJ has a strong hand and will call a push. In middle position and with a huge stack, Hero puts HJ on something like TT+, AQ+. So Hero needs JJ+ and AK to justify an all-in. AQo is not good enough. There are also not large enough implied odds to justify a call. In fact, if Hero calls and hits top pair, he could easily lose a lot of money if HJ makes a better top pair or an overpair.
Situation 007 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A5o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets??? Action leading up: The action folds to Hero in the CO. What should Hero do?
Response 007 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 160 Blind Level: 2 15/30 Blinds: 45 Antes: 0 Position UTG +1 empty MP HJ CO Button SB BB A5o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Fold Hero s action: Hero folds. Strategic Concept: Easy Fold and Implied Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Early Stage. When stacks are deep, Hero wants to play hands with high implied odds. Hands like Axo have high reverse implied odds, meaning he will often win a small pot or lose a big one. There is no good way to play this hand.
Situation 010 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 110 Blind Level: 5 75/150 Blinds: 225 Antes: 0 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB J7s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Push 540??? Action leading up: There is a push from UTG and the action folds to Hero in the BB. What should Hero do?
Response 010 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 110 Blind Level: 5 75/150 Blinds: 225 Antes: 0 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB J7s Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Push 540 Call Hero s action: Hero calls. Strategic Concept: Playing the Odds Analysis: The tournament is in the Middle Stage. Hero is getting 2 to 1 on his money and needs to win about 36% of the time to break even. This hand is definitely going to win at least that often, making a call mandatory even though losing will hurt Hero s chip stack.
Situation 015 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 80 Blind Level: 7 125/250/25 Blinds: 375 Antes: 225 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB A6o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Push 7260??? Action leading up: The action folds to the CO, who pushes all-in. The action is on Hero on the button. What should Hero do?
Response 015 Game: Short Stack MTT Players Remaining: 80 Blind Level: 7 125/250/25 Blinds: 375 Antes: 225 Position UTG MP HJ CO Button SB BB A6o Starting Stacks Pre-Flop Bets Push 7260 Fold Hero s action: Hero folds. Strategic Concept: Easy Fold Analysis: The tournament is in the Middle Stage. This hand is too weak to call. In late position and with an effective short stack, Hero puts the CO on something like 47% of hands and Hero is calling something like 44+, A6s+, KTs+, QJs, JTs, A8o+, KJo+. A6o is not good enough.
