1 Instruction Sheet P/N _02 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit WARNING! Allow only personnel with appropriate training and experience to operate or service the equipment. Introduction This instruction sheet provides the steps for using the AltaBlue TT IP54 upgrade kit (part ) to upgrade melter part number The resulting melter meets the standards for an IP54 designation. The upgrade kit includes manual part number , which applies to the upgraded melter. Use this instruction sheet as needed in conjunction with reference drawing Refer to Parts at the end of this instruction sheet for a list of all parts contained in the upgrade kit. 2 2 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit Prepare for Upgrade See Figure Following proper lockout/tagout and safety procedures, remove the melter from the production line and place it in a suitable rework location. 2. Remove the the following covers: rear (1) rear electrical (2) front (3) left and right (4) side (5) 3. Remove the tank lid assembly (6). 4. 3 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit 3 Install the Electrical Enclosure Gaskets 1. Remove the old gaskets from around the electrical enclosure. 2. See Figure 3. Apply RTV sealant (36) to the new bottom door gasket (35) and install the gasket. Cut the supplied gasket (3) to the lengths shown in Figure 4 and install the gasket around the electrical enclosure frame. Drill holes as shown in Figure 6 for the new baffle cover (21). 3. Install the new baffle cover (21) using the supplied screws, nuts, and washers (22, 23, 24). 4. Install the supplied baffle cover (21) using the screws, nuts, and washers removed previously, positioning the fan components as shown in Figure Add an 11 x 2 O ring (29) to the spring latch. Install the ground tag (4) and lug (5) using the supplied washer (33) and nut (34). 11 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit 11 Rework the Rear Cover See Figure Assemble the 11 x 2 O rings (29) and spring latches (44) on the new rear cover (2) using the supplied nuts (45). 2. Install a ground tag (4) and lug (5) using the supplied nut (34) and washer (33). Item 51, P/N Install the double lugs (51) on the top ground stack inside the electrical enclosure using the supplied washers (23) and nuts (24). 2. Connect the supplied ground wires (56) to the new lugs and route them through the unit, one towards the side cover and the the other towards the rear cover. Use the new tag as a template to drill two 3.2 mm (⅛ in.) holes in the front cover and then install the new ID plate (58) and tag (59) using the supplied rivets (57). 14 14 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit Rework the Tank and Lid Assemblies 1. See Figure 12. Remove the tank tray. 2. Install the new tank flange (14) and tank gasket (15). Cut the supplied tank tray gasket (3) to the lengths shown in Figure 13, apply RTV sealant (36) to the gasket, and install the gasket around the tank tray as shown. 4. Reinstall the tank tray. BEFORE RE-ASSEMBLING TRAY, APPLY ITEM 36 (RTV) TO BOTH OUTSIDE SEAMS ( TANK TRAY ) ALIGN GASKET TANGENT TO EDGE AND RADII ON TRAY (ONE TIME EACH SIDE) 3 CUT TO 0.37 MM (8.7 IN.) Refer to the Hinge Replacement Notes in Figure 16. Item 49, P/N X 48 4X 9 49 EXISTING DOOR FRAME Item 48, P/N EXISTING DOOR Items 9 and 50, P/Ns and NOTE: MAGNETS NOT SHOWN FOR CLARITY. DO NOT REMOVE MAGNETS. FINISHED HINGE/DOOR ASSEMBLY HINGE REPLACEMENT NOTES 1. DISASSEMBLE DOOR FROM EXISTING HINGE COMPONENTS 2. INSERT DOOR INTO HINGE, ITEM 49, AS SHOWN. 3, SECURE SCREWS, ITEM 50, THROUGH DOOR AND THREAD INTO NUTS, ITEM 9, INTO CAVITIES OF HINGE. 4. INSERT HIINGE, ITEM 48, INTO FRAME AS SHOWN. 5. Item 17, P/N Loosen the retaining screw that secures the manifold heater, remove the heater, and remove and discard the heater cover. 2. Slide the ID insulation sleeving (16) onto the heater wire. 3. Reinstall the heater and secure it using the new heater cover (17). Use cable ties (19) as needed to secure the wiring. INSTALL AS SHOWN.; ROUTE HEATER AND RTD WIRES FOR THE PUMP BRACKET THRU SLEEVING ITEM 16. MAKE SURE THAT THE END OF THE SLEEVING IS SECURE BEHIND THE TANK INSULATION. Item 18, P/N (0.750 ID) Item 16, P/N (0.375 ID) J 17 INSTALL ITEM 17 UNDER EXISTING PLATE. 16 Item 19, P/N WHEN ASSEMBLED THE END OF THE SLEEVING NEEDS TO TERMINATE INSIDE OF COVER WHEN ASSEMBLING THE SLEEVING. 19 AltaBlue TT Melter IP54 Upgrade Kit 19 See Figure Loosen the retaining screw that secures the two tank heaters and remove the heaters. 5. Cut the ID insulation sleeving (18) into two 46 cm (18 in.) pieces and slide the sleeves onto the heater wires. 6. Reinstall the tank heaters and tighten the heater cover screws. Use cable ties (19) as needed to secure the heater wiring. ITEM 19 USED TO SECURE HEATER WIRES. Cut the gasket tape (20) to the lengths shown in Figure 20 and install them on the cover. 3. Add an 11 x 2 O ring (29) to the spring latch.
