2 Pre class a ct v t Wld Preclass Centers As the chldren arrve, gude them to a preclass center. Have no more than sx chldren at each center. Materals Use the materals prevously selected for ths unt s preclass centers. Preparaton 1. Be sure to check the condton of the materals selected for ths unt s preclass centers pror to set up. Replace any broken toys, or puzzles wth mssng peces as necessary. 2. Set up the centers before the chldren come nto the classroom. 3. Assgn a teacher to each center and have the teachers stay n those centers untl the sngng begns. Instructons Gude the play n each center renforcng the unt theme. Teacher Tps IMPORTANT: Do not allow any small toys n the classroom. Frst check all toys for sze. You can obtan a safety cylnder from a pedatrcan. Any object that can ft nto the cylnder s too small and could cause a chld to choke. Be nvolved n the group play and offer gudance as needed. Wear comfortable clothes sutable for sttng on the floor. Bble Story Text Geness 1:24-25 Materals For the teacher: felt board felt board fgures from Unt 7 Lesson 1, Bble Story tape scssors Reproducble Pages: Page A, 1 copy for the teacher Page B, 1 copy for the teacher Preparaton 1. Cut out the felt board fgures from the copes of Reproducble Pages A and B. 2. Color the fgures. 3. Place tape on the back of each fgure. God s In the very begnnng God made the whole world. He made the nght and the day, the clouds and sky, the sun, moon and stars, the land and the water. And then, on the sxth day, do you remember what he made? Yes, he made the anmals. Place each of the farm anmals and pets on the felt board and name each anmal. God made many anmals. Remove the anmals from the board. Put the grass, tree and water landscape fgures on the felt board. God also made wld anmals. He made monkeys. Place the monkey on the tree. Monkeys lke to st n trees. Let s gve the monkey a banana to eat. Place the banana on the monkey s hand. Place the lon on the board. What else dd God make? Yes, he made lons. What sound does a lon make? Make a roarng sound wth the chldren. The lon s very strong and moves very fast. Lons eat meat. Put the graffe on the board. God also made graffes. Look at hs long neck. Would you lke to touch hs long neck? Let the chldren each touch the graffe s neck. Do you know why God gave hm a long neck? So that he can eat the leaves n the tall trees. Place the graffe besde the tree wth hs mouth touchng the leaves. Put the elephant on the board. Now here s a very bg anmal. Does anyone know what ths s? Yes, t s an elephant. Elephants eat grass or hay. When t s hot durng the daytme, the elephants fnd a shady place to take a nap. Then when the sun goes down, they go fnd water to get a drnk and take a bath. Place the elephant besde the water. God made all the wld anmals. He made the monkey, the lon, the graffe and the elephant. Pont to each anmal as the chldren repeat the names. Turn the board around and take the lon away. Then show the chldren the board. One of the anmals s mssng. Whch one s t? That s rght the lon s mssng. Let s go on a lon hunt to fnd the lon. Tell the Lon Hunt fnger play from the Unt 7 Song Sheet. Have the chldren mtate your hand motons. NOTE: Save the felt board fgures for Unt 7 Lesson 4, Bble Story. Concluson We found the lon. He was n a cave. Let s put hm back on the grass. (Geness 1:24-25) Materals For the teacher: crayons or markers scssors glue stck 1 sheet of poster board clear contact paper or lamnate (optonal) Reproducble Pages: Page C, 1 copy for the teacher Page D, 1 copy for the teacher Preparaton 1. Glue the copes of Reproducble Pages C and D onto the poster board. 2. Color each anmal card. 3. Cut out each card and then cut each card n half where ndcated. Instructons 1. Gve each chld the top half of an anmal card. 2. Place the bottom half of the matchng anmal card n front of the chld. 3. Have the chldren algn the top and bottom of ther anmal cards. 4. As the chldren work, ask them to dentfy ther anmals. Greg, what wld anmal do you have? That s rght, you have a graffe. God made graffes. God made anmals. 5. Collect the anmal cards and play some varatons of the game as follows: A. For twos, gve a dfferent card to each chld. Place the remanng cards face up n a lne. Have the chldren match the cards n ther hands to the cards n the lne. B. For threes, gve a dfferent card to each chld. Mx the remanng cards together face up. Have the chldren fnd the matches to the cards n ther hands. NOTE: Save the cards to use n Unt 7 Lesson 4, Lfe Applcaton and as a preclass or post class actvty. Bble Truth Actvty Who made the anmals? 7 C r a f t Wld Anmal Pouch The chldren wll create a pouch to carry anmal crackers. Materals For each chld: 1 paper plate 3' of yarn For the teacher: 1 large box of anmal crackers maskng tape tssue paper hole punch scssors marker stapler Preparaton 1. Cut each paper plate n half. 2. Place the paper plate halves together face-to-face, then staple the rounded edges of the plates together makng a pouch. Do not staple along the straght edge of the plates. See Fgure A. 3. Punch holes around the rounded edge of the pouch. See Fgure B. 4. Te a large knot n one end of each pece of yarn and place maskng tape around the other end. The tape wll help the yarn to be stff so the chldren can thread t easly. 5. Cut the tssue paper nto 1" peces. 6. Wrte God Made on each pouch. 7. Make a model of the craft followng the nstructons. Instructons 1. Gve each chld a pouch and a pece of yarn. 2. Help the chldren thread ther yarn through the punched holes n the pouch. 3. Te the ends of the yarn together formng a pouch handle. 4. Have the chldren glue the tssue paper onto the pouch as decoraton. 5. Have the chldren choose a few anmal crackers to put n ther pouches. Help them to name the anmals they chose. Be sure to tell the chldren not to eat the anmal crackers that they put n ther pouches. Tell them that they wll be able to eat some crackers after they have fnshed ther craft. Concluson Who made the anmals? That s rght, God made the anmals. Gve each chld a few extra anmal crackers to eat. Glue the copy of Reproducble Page E to one sheet of constructon paper. 2. Cut out each of the cards. Wld Instructons 1. Gve one wld anmal card to each chld n your group and tell them the names of each wld anmal. 2. Show the chldren the farm anmal and pet cards (anmal cards from Unt 7 Lesson 1) and revew the names of each anmal. 3. Mx all of the anmal cards together. 4. Have each chld take a turn sortng the cards nto two ples; one ple of wld anmal cards and the other a ple of farm anmal and pet cards. NOTE: Save the anmal cards and wld anmal cards to use durng Unt 7 Lesson 4, Lfe Applcaton. Bble Truth Actvty Who made the anmals? Yes, God dd. Materals For each chld: 1 tolet paper tube glue stck scssors For the teacher: orange constructon paper yellow constructon paper pen scssors Reproducble Pages: 1 copy of Page F, for the teacher Preparaton 1. Cut a 6" x 4 1 / 2 " pece of orange constructon paper for each chld. 2. Wrap the pece of orange constructon paper around each tolet paper tube and glue t n place. 3. Cut out the stencls from the copy of Reproducble Page F. 4. For each chld, trace and cut out one lon s face from yellow constructon paper. 5. Trace and cut out one set of the lon s body parts for each chld from orange constructon paper. 6. Draw features on each lon s face. See Fgure A. 7. Make one completed lon followng the nstructons. Wld Instructons 1. Gve each chld a covered tube. 2. Gve each chld a set of front legs. Have them glue the legs to one sde of the tube. See Fgure B. 3. Have the chldren attach the back legs and tal, as shown n Fgure C. A. Have each chld glue the back legs to the back of the tube. B. Help each chld to curl the tal by rollng t around a pen. C. Have each chld glue the tal to the back of the lon s back legs. 4. Have the chldren attach the mane to the tube as follows: A. Have the chldren glue the lon s face to the mddle of the mane. B. Usng the chldren s scssors, help each chld cut slts along the mane. See Fgure D. C. Have the chldren glue the mane over the front legs. See Fgure E. Concluson Ask the chldren f the lon s an anmal.
