USE OF ENGLISH (80 POINTS) SUBJECT 1. (6 points) A. Read the text about five different pirates and answer the questions below with T for true sentence or F for false sentence. Anne Bonny is an Irish-American woman born in Anne loves jewels and according to the legend Anne has a scar on her face after a big fight with another woman pirate. She dies in 1782 and she is buried with all her jewelry. Black Bart s real name is Bartholomew Roberts. He is a Welsh pirate born in 1682 and he dies in He travels in many places in Africa and America. He is famous because he prefers drinking tea and not rum. He has a big golden earring that he uses to read the map and he is never lost on the oceans. Samuel Bellamy is called Black Sam or the Prince of Pirates. He dies in 1717 and is born in He likes sailing on the east coast of North America. He dies during a violent storm, a hurricane. He and his other pirates are found on a deserted island after 30 years and people know that it is Samuel Bellamy after his flag with a special skull and bones. The skull has a yellow bandanna and it is sitting on a red barrel. Blackbeard is born in 1680 in England, under the name Edward Teach or Edward Thatch. Before he dies in 1718, he sails the ship Queen Ann s Revenge. He is not a violent pirate. He keeps all his treasures in a silver chest, in which he has many gold coins and a silver hook. Nobody knows why he has that silver hook. It is still a mystery. Calico Jack, an English pirate with the real name Jack Rackham, is born in He is famous for his colourful clothes. He dies in 1720 in Port Royal, in Jamaica. He and his group of pirates participate in many battles, on the shore and on the water. But the most famous one is the cannon battles from 1710, when he captures two ships, a hundred pistols and a big fortune. 1.
