1 Maplist 6 : Ordnance Survey County Series maps in the Bodleian Library: missing and out-of-sequence maps and other anomalies. Ireland Compiled by Alex Zambellas, 2012 This is mainly a list of the Bodleian s missing County Series sheets and of sheets bound out of sequence. Listed missing sheets aside, our holdings should be complete. For information on what the OS Ireland published in the County Series, and for county-by-county survey and revision dates, see the OSI Index Atlas and OSI catalogues. The lists of Bodleian holdings that are included here cover scales, series or revisions of the same era not included in these two publications, and various anomalous sheets O.S. We have fifty-three 1:1250 enlargements from 1:2500 of the Dublin area, 1930s: grids 3,5,14,15,17,18,19,22,23 (25-inch number plus a, b, c, d instead of NW,NE,SW,SE). 1:1056 enlargements from 1:2500
7 The preferred OSI enlargements scale. We have several hundred 1:1056 enlargements from 1:2500, of towns and villages, 1920s-30s. Unlike the G.B. 1:1250 enlargements, the OSI 1:1056 equivalents are centred on the towns and villages, so don t have 1:2500-based sheet-numbers, and none is partially revised. The only one we have an index to is Howth and Killester, + index, : Co. Dublin 15_76,77,78,79,80,86,87,89,90,91,98,99,100; 16_41,51,61,71,81; 19_1,8,9,10,11,19,20,30 [drawer C19:18(11)]. 1:1056 and 1:500 town plans NUMBERING: For 1:1056 ( = 5 feet / mile), there are either (a) a hundred town-plan sheets within each 1:10,560 sheet e.g. Ballybeg, Co. Kerry 68_79 (1:10,560 number, 1:1056 number); or (b) a number corresponding to the number of sheets issued and shown on the index-map (e.g. Ballybeg Sheet 119 ), on local sheet-lines. For 1:500 ( = feet / mile), there are twenty-five town-plan sheets within each 1:2500 sheet e.g. Ballybeg, Co. Kerry 68_14_22 (1:10,560 number, 1:2500 number, 1:500 number).
