2 Chemical Sediment Sampling Sample design is probabilistic. This work starting in 2000 gave the first Statewide marine sediment sampling. Sediment samples collected using top 2 cm of sediment collected using a Van Veen sampler. 364 sampling locations for the 8 years of sampling. Samples analyzed for PAH s, Pesticides, PCBs, Metals, sediment toxicity. Data Analysis for this presentation was performed on 10,789 results for PAH s, Pesticides, and Metals with ERL and ERM values.

8 Overall Results 1 % (128) of the results exceeded an ERM 100 are from the NY-NJ Harbor/Hudson area 13.8% (1487) exceeded an ERL 707 are from the NY-NJ Harbor/Hudson area 59 stations (16%) are in the NY-NJ Harbor/Hudson area
9 Summary Largest number of ERM and ERL exceedences are from the Passaic River (6 stations of the 364). Mercury is the largest number of ERM exceedences. Metals As, Hg, and Ni at the top, are most of the exceedences of ERLs.
