1 Trip Report for 06 days birding tour For Ballard Family 02nd May : We started from Cusco at 5:30 am to then go for some nice spot called Wacarpay Lake to get some interesting birds like Golden Billed Saltator, andean Negrito, Gian Hummingbird and others. We continue our driving to the Cloud Forest getting some more birds on the way such us American Kestrel, Andean Flicker and Ash breasted Sierra Finch but before we stopped at a very cool town Paucartambo for a very local lunch and a little visit to the interesting Museum to see and learn about the local history. After the lovely lunch we also spotted some birds around the town like Black Phoebe and White Winged Cinclodes by the Mapacho River. Our way to the cloud fores continued with some more stopped at the Ajanacco ritgh at the beginning of Manu National Park with some birds like White Throated Tyrannulet and Tyrian Metaltail. Then finally the Higland Motomot before we arrive to Cock of the Rock Lodge. Thomas, Sara 1 and Sara 2 on the way out fron Machuwasi Lagoon 03th May : This morning we enjoy the Hummingbirds such us Sparkling Violet ear, Wire crested Throrntail plus some Monkeys like Large Headed Capuccin and a nice Rodent Bown Agouti that came to visit the Lodge, nice birding around the lodge to then drive back a Little higher for some missing species getting Masked Trogon, Masked Flowerpiercer, Fawn breasted Tanager. After Lunch we walk around the Lodge to get some more species like Paradise Tanager, Russet Backed Oropendola, Dusky Green Oropendola and others.
2 Olive Striped Flycatcher at Cock of the Rock Lodge 04th May : We had a nice breakfast to then continue with the trip to the Amazon doing some stops on the way to get some birds like Rufous Motmot, Golden Crowned Flycatcher and the Popular Cock of the Rock. We had our Lunch at Pilcopata Town with nice view to surrounding, it was a very sunny day that then we just drive to Atalaya Port but before getting a nice view of Great Potoo on the way. We then took the boat to finally get to Amazonia Lodge. 05th May : We had a early Breakfast to visit a small Parrot Clay Lick with few birds like Blue Headed Parrot, Yellow Crowned Parrot and Scarlet Macaw Flying around since the weather was a Little cloudy. Then we jump to the boat in order to get Machuwasi Lagoon for very interesting birds like Horned Screamer, the very cool Hoatzin, Lesser Kiskidae and a big group of Black Capped Squirrel Monkey.We then go back to the Lodge for Lunch and a Little break. That afternoon we wen for a short walk around the lodge getting some birds like Black tailed Trogon, Red Capped Cardinal, silver Beak Tanager and some others. That night we also spotted the very cool looking Tawny Belly Screech Owl. Early Boat departure for the Parrot Clay Lick
3 06th May : Our last morning at the jungle to then go back to the Cloud Forest of course on the way back we also spotted some more birds like Pearled Treerunner, White Banded Tyrannulet, Cinnamon Flycatcher, White Collared Jay and others. We dicided to arrive early to Wayquecha station to enjoy the surrounding getting some birds like Sierran Elaenia, Glossy Black Thrush, Black faced Brush Finh and others. Tawny bellied Screech Owl 07th May : A very relaxing morning with nice breakfast facing the Cloud Forest and then the bus back to Cusco but some more cool birds on the way like Mountain Caracara, Streak Throated Bush Tyrant, Bar winged Cinclodes. We stopped at Wacarpay Lake for our lunch with a lovely view in front of the Lake then drive back to cusco and airport. Great Thrush at Wayquecha Station
