2 Agricultural Building Apparel Geo Home / Furniture More technical textile products are required for protecting, collecting and saving in agriculture, afforestation and fishing sectors. In agricultural textile industry, especially the consumption of nonwovens which are developed for fish farm equipments and agricultural applications is speedly inreasing. During studies of preventing erosion and afforestation agricultural textiles are used whilst carrying plants together with their soil. In greenhouse coverings, technical textiles which climatize the environment are rapidly taking place of conventional plastic coverings. Today the use of technical textiles and nonwovens are not limited with isolation products. Nonwovens with their stablility between different surfaces are prefered now against classical filling materials. Nonwovens are the favorites of building industry with their great resistance to different climate conditions. Besides, in recent years more composit materials are being used in quake-against building applications. Special fiber is added during mixing period of ready concrete in order to increase its strength. Linings, waddings and interlinings, which have been very popular in textile, keep their importance with additional developed features. Nonwovens and technical textiles in apperal category always find high profile customers compared to the others. In this category, where woven products are used intensively, high performance clothes such as sports and military purpose ones give hope for the future with high level production engineering. By the effect of changing costs and new technologies, daily clothes will be the surprise product of this category. Another development is the increase in usage of nonwoven products in shoes and leather garment sector for their comfort and conditioning effects. Within all categories, the most speedly growing production group of the recent years is geotextiles. In spite of the limited product range, high consumption rate speeds up the return of first investment. Geotextiles which were solely being used in developed countries, will be prefered by all countries now for their facilities and costs. Substructure investments of developing countries introduced the unanticipated need for geotextiles. Geotextiles are taking their place in ground building for isolation and stability. Continuously increasing geotextile need makes it rational to have local productions in countries. In recent years especially in highway adjudications, it is obligatory to use geotextiles and this indicates that the demand for this market will increase rapidly. Synthetic fiber use in home textiles is also increasing. The new trend in home textiles is fire blocker featured fabrics. Domestic use of nonwovens has doubled many times in the last decade. From carpet bottoms to furniture skeletons, beds to kitchenware and bathroom equipments, many products incorporate unwearable textile goods. Besides, some unexpected innovative products will be introduced. For example; walls will be covered with special carpets from now on. Why Turkey? Technical textiles and nonwoven production is constantly growing in Turkey where production has doubled in the last 10 years. In market researches, it is observed that the annual nonwoven consumption in Turkey and in its neighbouring countries is slightly more than the production. Market profoundity at increase It s obvious that technical-textiles and nonwoven production and consumption will speedly increase in Turkey and Turkey appears to be the largest market of Europe and the Middle East in near future. It s also determined that the most important development will be in the products which are used in apperal, building, geotextiles, hygiene and home sectors. Technical textiles and nonwovens produced by many companies in Turkey, are drawing attention abroad as well as for the local market. Especially the increase of investments to high technology and many companies commencement for exportation proove that the sector will continously develop. H T i t
3 st s al Industrial Food Cosmetics / Hygiene Medical / Hygiene The widest usage area of technical textiles is industrial applications. In recent years, nonwoven products are commonly used in food packaging. Some of these products are edible as well. Nonwoven products used in personal care and cosmetics for years, are drawing more consumer attention with their new characteristics. Developing countries markets are in demand of more medical textiles. Health and hygiene products market is generally growing paralel to the increase in world population. Technical textiles are always demanded by factories for their special textures, for filtering and cleaning processes as well as for their features such as having ability to be transported on tape and classified acoording to their sizes. Easy to clean nonwovens are preferred in conveyance of foods during production processes and for their shelf lives. Increased quota of disposable products in hygiene and cosmetics lead to changes in consumer habits. Due to this reason, the sector is anticipated to have a high growth rate parallel to expanding production capacities. High standard and complex technical textiles are always needed in medical processes. Hygienic textiles market is candidate to exponential growth as the products within this range are and will be used widely. New enviroment regulations highlight nonwoven filters, which almost have unlimited usage areas. Nonwovens offer solutions not only for dust but also gas and oil filtrations. The first samples of technical textile products used with protection purposes in food heating, boiling and service received great attention. They are expected to form the fastest growing category within food textiles due to their hygienic benefits and because of being a brand new product group. Nonwovens are used in lieu of simple textile products employed in domestic and outdoor cleaning and for cleaning purposes at factories, offices, etc. This group will develop with powder and liquid sensitive products. l, Hightex 2013 will bring together technology developers and manufacturers The main goal is to bring together the nonwoven and technical textiles sector, which is delevoping beyond expectations and arousing invester interests, with technology developers in Europe and US. The second aim of the exhibition is to assemble the gradually increasing consumers of nonwoven and technical textiles with producers and importers.
4 Transport Ecological Packaging Protection Sports In spite of being the most rapidly developing and expanding category of all, ecological textile products have the smallest share in terms of market size. Sacks and bags made of traditional jut, cotton or natural fiber gradually leave their place to modern synthetic fibers. Sports clothes which professional sportsmen prefer because of their comfort, safety and high performance, are now also demanded by amateurs. Technical textiles in automotive were generally aimed at isolation and covering. Now comfort and style is at focus as well. Automobile and truck tent coverings and sail tents are developing technically in order to supply better protection against air conditions. Ecological textile products category which includes technical textiles that are used for enviromental protection applications covers various kinds of products for dust and smoke filtration, for preventing erosion, covering toxic waste, etc. BigBag and FIBS party packages, that have started to be used in recent years, keep increasing their variaties continously. Industrial protection products are preferred in almost all branches of industry. Worldwide interest to active sport has increased the usage rate of technical textiles and nonwovens. Transportation sector is the most significant market for technical textiles with automobiles, trains, boats and planes. Ecological products get attention with their high profits. Technical textiles in this industry become smarter day by day, so it will be possible to filtrate different kinds of waste particles, which environment standards haven t taken into consideration before. Nonwovens have also started to show themselves in the paper market with light packages and heavy weight cases. Knitted textile products also have a growing usage area in consumer packaging sector. Product range widens day by day with products such as heat and cold resistant gloves, clothes, protection bandages, protection materials in shoes. Starting with water resistant umbrellas or high performance clothes, special products are now everywhere in daily use depending on consumer request. Increasing demand for disposable hygiene products in Turkey Increasing demand for disposable hygiene products in Turkey is providing opportunities for a number of Turkish companies, as well as foreign investors. In mid-2012 there were some 65 producers of nonwovens in Turkey, compared with just 25 in Furthermore, in the five years to 2011, Turkish nonwovens production almost doubled from 89,000 tons to 167,000 tons, and much of this production is being converted into components for disposable hygiene products. Production of baby diapers in Turkey for the domestic market amounted to an estimated 4 billion in Furthermore, an additional 4 billion items were produced for exporting at low cost, mainly to East European countries, Iran, Iraq, North African countries and Syria. In total, production in Turkey accounted for about 6% of world consumption of diapers. Yet, with about 4.1 million infants under the age of three in the country, penetration of the market for baby diapers in Turkey amounts to only 66%. Furthermore, market penetration is significantly lower in a number of neighbouring countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). These figures suggest that there is much growth potential and, not surprisingly, Turkey s diaper manufacturers have become a target for foreign investors. There is also strong growth potential in other product sectors, notably sanitary napkins. With 18 million females in Turkey between the ages of 15 and 45, market penetration in this sector is estimated to be only 52%. A significant proportion of the converted nonwoven products exported from Turkey now go to countries in the rapidly growing Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. However, MENA is not the only region of interest for Turkish manufacturing. Within a radius of just 2,000 miles, Turkey has access to markets in most of Europe, most of the MENA region, a region of Central Asia and parts of Russia, with a total of 1.5 billion people.
