2 Our History In 1985, two Pennsylvania entrepreneurs had a vision to build power lift and recline chairs for the home medical market in a whole new way. This vision included their shared goal of building it right the first time, a motto that still holds true and hangs on a banner 27 years later in our 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Old Forge, Pa. These visionaries realized that no two people are alike; everyone is a different size, a different shape, and has different needs for comfort and style. They brought in experts in upholstery, furniture design and sewing, and created positioning and electronics technologies so advanced, that today we hold numerous U.S. patents. It was and still is understood that every individual deserves a high quality piece of furniture, with a lifetime warranty behind it. One of the first lift chairs produced! In 2008, this team saw an untapped potential to give customers a more comfortable and luxurious way to recline by using power, instead of the traditional, handle-operated, out-dated mechanisms. They reached out to the furniture industry in 2008 and in 2009, UltraComfort America was born. Its impact on the industry was immediate and has been changing the face of the power lift and recline industry ever since, thanks to its innovative designs, unmatched quality, unique technologies and good old fashioned Made in America craftsmanship. Our unique manufacturing processes blend traditional American furniture craftsmanship and techniques with the industry s latest tools and technology. More than 200 different employees are involved in every phase of the manufacturing process of every chair, from sewing the fabric into patterns, to building the wood frames, to upholstery and installing the motors and mechanisms that drive the chairs. Did you know? Kiln-dried northern maple resists cracks, and is quieter than other types of wood used in most motion furniture? Quite simply, it will last longer and out perform any other wood frame! To provide the perfect amount of support in the head, neck or lumbar areas, AutoLounger power recliners with a two- or three-pillow backrest, feature a convenient zipper underneath each pillow so you can custom-adjust the Dacron fill. Simply flip up a pillow, open the zipper, and add or remove some filler to soften or adjust support in the headrest or in the lumbar area. Your comfort is truly customizable! Every AutoLounger comes standard with a full chaise pad for complete, comfortable leg support from the hips to the ankles. The foam for each chaise pad is sewn to the fabric cover to ensure it doesn t move when you do. In addition to the full chaise pad, the 551 models will come standard with our pocketed coil spring seat system for extra comfort and durability. Store your favorite magazines or TV remote control in the convenient side pocket of the AutoLounger. The standard UltraSoft fabrics are a durable microfiber with a soft hand and a variety of colors from subtle earth tones to vibrant reds. UltraSoft fabrics are inherently stain resistant and clean easily with soap and water, thanks to the unique manufacturing process that includes a silicone application.
