5 01 ABOUT ABOUT The Avalia Outdoor team have been involved in the outdoor furniture industry since Over this time, Avalia Outdoor have dedicated themselves to developing high quality products, tailored to suit the demands of Australia s unique and enviable outdoor environment. Our philosophy stems from recognising the benefits of overstepping the traditional constraints that separate the indoors from the outdoors. Avalia Outdoor is conscious of the world and our place in it. We are dedicated to doing our best to minimise the impact on the environment and improve the life quality of people in our employ and the communities that surround. Avalia Outdoor takes our social responsibility seriously, developing policies that see all sites in Australia recycling materials, where possible, and are working closely with our partners overseas to enforce OHS and environmentally friendly practices. This commitment is ongoing. We monitor industry improvements closely and take every opportunity to improve current procedures. We are proud our LV wicker fibre, cushion fabrics and frames are 100% recyclable and ensure all chemicals used are toxin free.

29 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 49 SPECS MANUFACTURING PROCESS The team at Avalia Outdoor have been manufacturing quality outdoor furniture since 2007 and have a large array of quality controls and procedures to ensure our customers receive high quality products with every purchase. Our team research every component in every piece to ensure longevity, durability and style. Using a mixture of quality brands and developing our own components, such as our LV wicker, ensures that you buy a quality product with every purchase. We are also heavily invested in the design process to maximise the strength of our frames whilst ensuring that the proportions are met for a comfy yet stylish design for the unique Australian market every time. MATERIALS All Avalia Outdoor products are hand crafted using modern and traditional methods. The LV wicker fibre is a quality, high density polyethylene (HDPE). It has been developed over years of stringent testing to provide you a world class product. Treated with nontoxic compounds, the fibre is remarkably strong and colour fast, even under the toughest conditions. The frames are marine grade aluminium which is powder coated to provide extra protection against rust and the elements. PRODUCT CARE All products in the Avalia Outdoor collection are developed to need minimal care. To prolong the life of your furniture, and keep it looking its best, we do recommend following the care instructions found in the following pages.

TEAK Our teak is kiln dried to ensure an optimum moisture content (OMC) is reached. It is then carefully crafted to provide a beautiful finish.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Maintenance: Teak will turn grey/silver if not maintained.

FRAMES Stainless Steel Almost all of our frames are made from marine grade aluminium. With its naturally high resistance to corrosion and oxidisation it is a perfect material for outdoor furniture.

Maintenance: Aluminium requires minimal maintenance and can be cleaned easily with ph neutral cleaners with water.

The alloy has a content of chromium, which forms a skin to protect the metal against oxidisation (rust). All Avalia furniture is made using 304L stainless steel, which is graded for outdoor use.

30 TEAK Our teak is kiln dried to ensure an optimum moisture content (OMC) is reached. It is then carefully crafted to provide a beautiful finish. Teak is native to SE Asia and is regarded as the best timber for outdoor use due to its natural inherent oils which eliminate the potential for rot or decay. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Maintenance: Teak will turn grey/silver if not maintained. We recommend using teak cleaner followed by teak protector 2 to 3 times a year, especially prior to winter or long periods of rain. FRAMES Stainless Steel Almost all of our frames are made from marine grade aluminium. With its naturally high resistance to corrosion and oxidisation it is a perfect material for outdoor furniture. A double layer of powder coating is applied electrostatically, protecting exposed frames even more. Maintenance: Aluminium requires minimal maintenance and can be cleaned easily with ph neutral cleaners with water. To protect aluminium against dirt adhesion, a metal protector with Teflon can be used. Stainless steel is a durable metal alloy of which iron is its base. The alloy has a content of chromium, which forms a skin to protect the metal against oxidisation (rust). All Avalia furniture is made using 304L stainless steel, which is graded for outdoor use. Most staining is caused through pits forming on the surface of the metal due to dust and moisture sitting on the surface and accelerating the natural oxidisation process. To this end, Avalia uses a polished finish, which minimises any pitting. Maintenance: Stainless steel does require regular maintenance, especially in coastal or unprotected areas. Regular cleaning using soapy water will increase longevity and reduce staining. Staining can be removed using a stainless steel cleaner and, combined with a metal protector spray containing Teflon, the life of your furniture will be maximised and will continue to looks its best long into the future. 51 SPECS Safety Glass Our unique LV wicker has been developed over years to provide you with a truly world class product. Made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) and treated with German ingredients, our wicker is UV stable, high tensile and resistant to almost anything. Our focus has been to produce a durable material that is natural in appearance. This means it can confidently be left outside, all year round, with zero worries. Extensive synthetic testing has proven our LV wicker stands up against the world s best brands. Maintenance: Hose off or use warm soapy water and rinse. All glass, although varying in thickness and colour, is produced using the toughening (or tempered) process, giving the glass far more strength against impact stress and temperature change. Although stronger than traditional glass, toughened glass can still break and precaution must be used in high traffic areas or around children. Maintenance: Wash regularly with warm soapy water and dry immediately with a microfibre cloth. For stubborn stains use glass cleaner but do not apply to frosted or treated side.

31 MARINE LEATHER + FABRICS Foam wicker-cushions Our marine leather and Sunbrella fabrics are water repellent and the foam padding is 100% outdoor open cell, quick dry foam. Unlike closed cell foam, open cell foam does not hold water and drains quickly. Quite simply this is the best foam for the outdoors. This means it can be left outside all year round. Foam Filling Our wicker furniture utilises quality high density polyurethane closed cell foam with a polyester wadding for maximum comfort. Although our fabrics are treated to be water repellent and our fillings are treated for mould and mildew resistance, it is not recommended to be left outside during periods of rain. If the cushions do get wet it is recommended to remove the filling, place vertically and leave to dry. Marine Leather Our microfibre marine leather is a high quality synthetic leather made for outdoor use. Microfibre marine leather is made to simulate the natural feel and structure of natural leather. Not to be confused with vinyl, our marine leather is made from high grade polyurethane (PU) microfibers. This enables it to have great resistance to tearing, abrasion, UV, fungus, water chlorine and other harmful substances found outdoors. Maintenance: Wash regularly with warm soapy water. 53 SPECS s Our wicker furniture utilises the Sunproof range of fabric made of 100% polyolefin. Olefin is the common name for polypropylene. The fabric is solution dyed meaning the colour is throughout the full depth of the microfibre giving it the greatest of UV stability. The fabric is inherently resistant to abrasion and pilling. These fabrics are also treated to be water, fungus and stain resistant. They are also 100% recyclable. Often referred to as the world leader in outdoor fabrics, Sunbrella fabrics are solution dyed acrylics, which are treated with Teflon to make them stain and water repellent.
