1 Monthly Release of Industrial Production Statistics (IPS) Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) October/2013 Issue 04 Industrial Production Statistics (IPS) compilation and publication is a regular task of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). It is a great pleasure to release the Quantum Index of Industrial Production (QIIP) of the base year indices for the month of October, 2013 in this publication. This publication presents the data on industrial production of selected industries along with the monthly estimates of Quantum Index of Industrial Production (QIIP) of medium and large-scale manufacturing industries for the base years Indicators of this publication are expected to provide good idea about the trend of industrial production in the country over a long time. To assess movement of industrial production in Bangladesh, data are collected from State Owned Manufacturing Enterprises (SOEs) and major manufacturing enterprises in the private sector on a monthly basis. I firmly believe that the Release would be a useful document for planners, policy makers, researchers, development partners/agencies, academicians and other stakeholders. Finally, I would like to thank concerned Officers of National Accounting Wing Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Director, Deputy Director, Statistical Officer, Assistant Statistical Officer and other staff in bringing out this publication at regular intervals. Comments and suggestions for further improvement of this publication will be highly appreciated. Golam Mostafa Kamal (Additional Secretary) Director General
