13 TECHNICAL FEATURES Shade variations The color shade or shades of all tiles varies to some degree from piece to piece, from each production run to run. The Ceramic Tile Distributor Association (CTDA), in cooperation with tile manufacturers and distributors, has put together an helpful literature entitled the CTDA Color Shade Variation Guide. This guide rates ceramic tile on a four-point scale that ranges from V1 through V4. Instituting the CTDA s color shade variation guidelines you will reduce customer complaints and sell the unique and individual beauty of each ceramic tile. V1 V2 V3 V4 UNIFORM APPEARANCE SLIGHT VARIATION MODERATE VARIATION RANDOM VARIATION V1 Uniform Appearance Differences among pieces from the same production run are minimal. V2 Slight Variation Clearly distinguishable texture and/or pattern within similar colors. V3 Moderate Variation While the colors present on a single piece of tile will be indicative of the colors to be expected on the other tiles, the amount of colors on each piece may vary significantly. V4 Substantial Variation Random color differences from tile to tile, so that one tile may have totally different colors from that on other tiles. Thus, the final installation will be unique. Floors with exposure to these conditions require extra caution in product selection and proper maintenance. 13

14 TECHNICAL FEATURES Care & Maintenance Borgoforte is a stain-resistant porcelain tile requiring no special care. Routine maintenance will keep your tile looking new for years to come. Just clean regularly with a low-alkaline detergent diluted with warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots. Important! No waxes or sealers are recommended for this product.
