14 Our Mission Like the genes that make up our DNA, each of our initiatives in Science & Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship are essential components supporting the development and prosperity for the economic and social body of the Philippines.

Most importantly, DNA contains knowledge that has been passed along from one generation to the next. It is the link between each and every one of us. Likewise, PhilDev strives to create a virtuous circle of giving back and paying it forward.

SNAPSHOT Traveling Labs and Improving Regional Science Laboratories Work in collaboration with the Philippine Foundation for Science & Technology (PFST) to improve regional science high school labs and develop special programs for teacher s science summer camps. PFST has technically assisted the establishment of 9 regional science centrums, worked with DOST, DepEd and UNESCO. They have run a sucessful program of interactive exhibits -- Science Centrum (PSC), which have been viewed by nearly three million visitors composed of school children, teachers and families from all over the Philippines.

SNAPSHOT SuperFund PhilDev in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), ERDT, and the DoST, has launched the SuperFund for S&E Scholarships to be able to encourage the best and brightest Filipino youth to purse studies and careers in the fields of science and engineering. PhilDev is also partnering with private corporations and academic institutions to foster industrial relevance and to ensure that curricula are up to date with current technologies.

SNAPSHOT Philippine Science High School & DepEd Science High Schools PhilDev recognizes the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System as breeding ground for our nation s scientists and engineers, and as a laboratory to improve the high school curriculum. In partnership with PSHS, DoST, DepED and the Engineering Research and Development for Technology program (ERDT), PhilDev plans to extend the PSHS innovative and successful approaches to Regional Science High Schools (RSHS), including programs such as: summer science programs for students and teachers from PSHS and RSHS standardization of laboratory facilities

SNAPSHOT DevCon Founded by a role model who wants to give back to the Philippines - Winston Damarillo, a PhilDev Trustee and also a Filipino engineering graduate, DevCon empowers Filipino developers and promotes the "IT Pinoy Talent" by bringing together people from the IT industry and academia across the country to sync, support and succeed. DevCon hosts free "unconferences" for IT students, educators, professionals, enthusiasts, and industry sponsors; partners with academic institutions to augment classroom learning with up-to-date IT industry trends; partners with the Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE) to make DevCon accessible to IT students nationwide. Devcon has a goal of producing 10,000 world class software developers.

SNAPSHOT Innovation Without Borders Workshop Innovation Without Borders was co-founded by Ann Christensen and Taddy Hall, each with extensive experience in creating successful innovation. They work in close collaboration with advisor and Harvard Business Professor Clayton Christensen, the world s foremost thinker in managing innovation. In order to remain competitive on a global stage, The Philippines needs companies that are capable of developing innovative products and finding the right market for those products. PhilDev has partnered with Innovation Without Borders to create a series of high-energy, intensive, interactive workshops for Philippine entrepreneurs, industry executives, government and non-profit leaders. These workshop concepts have been developed and proven at the Harvard Business School.

This is an exciting opportunity for ERDT researchers and graduates to practice their training, and the hope is to build their skills and motivation toward starting up their own IT companies.
