1 Applicable to Higher Nitec (Non-DPP) graduates attaining the following ITE qualifications: - Certificate in Business Studies in Accounting - Higher Nitec in Accounting - Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Accounting) / Accounting and Entry Requirements For Higher Nitec (Non-DPP) Graduates To be eligible for consideration for admission to the various polytechnic courses, you must achieve, in your Higher Nitec course, the minimum NET Grade Point Average (GPA) (including CCA bonus points) for the different polytechnic course durations as shown in Table 1 below. Some polytechnic courses also have additional prerequisites, in addition to the course entry requirements. You must fulfil the additional prerequisites to be considered for the relevant courses. Please refer to the footnotes, if any, for the additional prerequisites. The JPAE in the table(s) below shows the GPA band in which the average (for the last 3 consecutive years) NET GPA of the lowest ranked students who was posted to these courses falls in. These bands are meant as a reference for applicants applying to these courses, and do not constitute the admission GPA for subsequent admission exercises. If a polytechnic course is newly offered under JPAE or a polytechnic course has no ITE intake for the last 3 consecutive years, the JPAE is denoted as -. Applying for S&T courses listed in the table(s) below may award you 0.1 BM bonus points to your GPA. Refer to "Before You Apply" page for the eligibility criteria. Admission into the courses of your choice is based on merit and subject to the availability of vacancies. For N43, N44, N50, N55, N76, N84 and N92, applicants with colour vision deficiency may be considered subject to an in-house test. n3 Applicants must ensure that they do not suffer from hearing deficiency. n4 For those with GPA of > 3.5 for Higher NITEC, admission will be to the 3-year programme with module exemptions for relevant modules in which an applicant has scored at least a C grade in the ITE examinations or for Network Systems & Security (N64), has completed the Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) course or any module or industry certificates and pass a practical test and viva. Module exemptions may be granted at the discretion of the Polytechnic for those who graduate from the relevant ITE course. Page 7 of 12
8 n5 Applicants with the following Higher NITEC certificates with a GPA of > 3.5 applying for the respective courses may be granted direct entry to the 2nd year of a 3-year course provided that they pass Bridging Maths 1 at ITE. n6 Higher NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Higher NITEC in Mechatronics Engineering applying for Mechanical Engineering (N41) Higher NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Higher NITEC in Mechatronics Engineering applying for Automation and Mechatronics (N50) Higher NITEC in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Higher NITEC in Mechatronics Engineering, Higher NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Higher NITEC in Electronics Engineering applying for Electronic & Computer Engineering (N44), Electrical Engineering (N43) Applicants applying for Marine and Offshore Technology (N42) from the Higher NITEC in Marine Offshore Engineering, Higher NITEC in Offshore & Marine Engineering Design, Higher NITEC in Marine Engineering with a GPA of > 3.5 may be granted direct entry to the 2nd year of a 3-year course provided that they pass Bridging Maths 1 at ITE. Applicants granted direct entry to Yr 2 are required to take a Year 1 module, Fundamentals of Naval Architecture 2. n7 Applicants applying for Health Sciences (Nursing) (N69) from the NITEC in Nursing, Higher NITEC in Paramedic & Emergency Care, Higher NITEC in Elder Care with GPA of 3.5 will be granted entry to first year with exemption of first 6 months in Year 1 ( commences in Semester 2). Entry to Year 1 Semester 1 with no exemptions for those with 3.0 < GPA < 3.5. n8 Applicants applying for Aerospace Technology (N65) from the Higher NITEC in Aerospace Engineering with a GPA of > 3.5 may be granted direct entry to the 2nd year of a 3-year course provided that they pass Bridging Maths 1 at ITE. Applicants applying for Aerospace Technology (N65) from the NITEC in Aerospace Technology will be admitted to the 3-year programmes with module exemptions for relevant modules. n9 Applicants have to pass a medical examination and must be free from physical handicap. n10 Applicants applying for Real Estate Business (N48) or Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (N40) from the Higher NITEC in Facility Management will be granted module exemption for Fire Safety Management module provided they are issued with the Fire Safety Manager Certificate. r1 It should be noted that candidates with visual impairment may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Applicants with visual impairment who are interested to apply for the following Diploma Programmes may be assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine their suitability for the programmes. 9 r2 This course will demand from students a considerable amount of involvement in water-based activities. As such, students should be able to show confidence in water related activities. r3 In line with industry requirements, applicants who are interested to apply for a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences should ensure that they do not have colour appreciation deficiency. r4 It should be noted that candidates with colour appreciation deficiency, hearing and/or physical impairments may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. For more clarifications and information, please check directly with Republic Polytechnic. r5 In line with industry requirements, applicants who are interested in applying for a Diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Learning (R33) should ensure that they do not have any mobility, hearing and/or visual impairments. Applicants who are comfortable with physically-strenuous activities would have an advantage. For more clarifications and information, please check directly with Republic Polytechnic. r6 In line with industry requirements, applicants who are interested to apply for the Diploma in Wellness and Hospitality Business (R44) should not have any difficulties in mobility. r7 It should be noted that applicants with hearing impairment who are interested in applying for a Diploma in Sonic Arts (R24) may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. For more clarifications and information, please check directly with Republic Polytechnic. s1 It should be noted that applicants particularly those who wish to pursue a career as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE) who have severe colour vision deficiency, uncontrolled epilepsy and hearing deficiency may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Those with mild deficiencies in these areas are advised to contact the Singapore Polytechnic for consultation. s2 It should be noted that applicants, particularly those who wish to pursue a career in electrical power engineering or as a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW), with colour vision deficiency may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations, as this condition is required by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore. Those with mild colour deficiency are required to undergo an in-house test. Interested applicants with this condition are highly encouraged to contact Singapore Polytechnic for more information. s3 All candidates must pass the colour vision test as per The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). 10 s4 Applicants with severe vision impairment may encounter difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Please refer to the Ministry of Health (MOH) website on Fitness to Practice for registered Optometrists. Interested applicants with this condition are highly encouraged to contact Singapore Polytechnic for more information. t1 Applicants with severe colour vision deficiency may have difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Interested applicants with severe colour vision deficiency are highly encouraged to contact Temasek Polytechnic for more information. t2 Applicants with mild or severe colour vision deficiency may have difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Interested applicants with mild or severe colour vision deficiency are highly encouraged to contact Temasek Polytechnic for more information. t3 Applicants with uncontrolled epilepsy or profound hearing loss may have difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Interested applicants with these conditions are highly encouraged to contact Temasek Polytechnic for more information. t4 Applicants with severe visual impairment may have difficulties meeting the course requirements and expectations. Interested applicants with severe visual impairment are highly encouraged to contact Temasek Polytechnic for more information. t5 Due to the specific requirements of the early childhood professions, all applicants have to go through medical examination and be certified not to have communicable diseases and have the following abilities to perform the job functions in a safe and effective manner: t6 Mental ability (interpersonal ability and behavioural stability) to provide safe care to children, as well as safety to self, and demonstrate self-control and behavioural stability to function and adapt effectively and sensitively in a dynamic role. Physical ability to move around in a preschool environment, walk/stand, bend, reach, lift, climb, push and pull, carry objects and perform complex sequences of hand eye coordination. Auditory ability to hear faint sounds, alarms and normal speaking level sounds. Visual ability to detect changes in physical appearance, colour and contour and read written communication accurately. The first semester in T06 (Mechatronics/ Aerospace Engineering) or first year in T05 (Electrical & Electronic Engineering Programme) or T56 (Common Engineering Programme) is common to all students and they will opt for one of the diplomas at the end of Semester 1 or 2. Students must ensure that they satisfy the requirements as stated in the footnotes under the respective courses - Electrical & Electronic Engineering Programme (T05) Page 10 of 12
