3 ARKIN CENTER for ART & DESIGN COURSE PROGRAM Arkın Center for Art and Design Center is a training center for certificate courses. ARCAD is a unit of educational programs offered to the community in the field of Art, Design and Communication. In addition to training programs for certification, ARCAD has the infrastructure, trainer and expert staff to produce works in the field of art activities, design products and communication design. Arkın Center for Art and Design (ARCAD) offers various personal and professional development certificate programs that are designed to meet the learning needs and interests of different age groups and institutions within the fields of art, design and communication. In ARCAD, it is aimed to enrich the life of participants through courses that are designed by unifying theory and practice. To be attached to universal artistic values is a necessity for ARCAD. Our certificate programmes based on unifying expertise and practise, either on traditional techniques or digital platforms, are organised into two categories: Open Programmes and Corporate Programmes. 5 5 ARCAD GENERAL PROGRAMS Specialization Programs ARCAD offers courses for participants who would like to improve themselves theoretically and practically in their professional field. Vocational Training Programs ARCAD offers courses for participants who would like to learn all theory and practice in a subject in which they are interested and are keen to choose this area as a profession in the future. Personal Development Programs ARCAD offers courses for participants who are interested in a specific subject and will have the opportunity to improve themselves in that subject and gain practicality.
6 ARCAD 6 CORPORATE PROGRAMS ARCAD offers courses in a variety of subjects for public and private sector employees, providing them with new developments and opportunities to acquire a range of new skills within their chosen field. Within the framework of these programs, trainings are given in order to contribute knowledge and skills according to occupation and duty fields in order to contribute to the personal and institutional development of employees. Programs are designed specifically for each institution, in line with the institution s needs. These programs are designed with the cooperation of the academy and the relevant institution to contribute to the development of employees. INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM POSSIBILITY: Our three-month practical and theoretical courses in different areas are limited to 36 hours; if trainees want, they can create a mixed program from other courses and have an interdisciplinary experience. In this case, the extra free hours will be 18. A total of 54 hours will be spent on a single program fee.
7 7 ARCAD BASIC ART EDUCATION (Eng., Tr.) This course is an introduction to plastic arts. Participants will acquire new skills and knowledge on composition, the use of colours, drawing, shape and texture from a combination of both theory and practice sessions. BASIC DESIGN (Eng., Tr.) This course is an introduction to graphic design. Participants will acquire new skills and knowledge on composition, the use of colours, drawing, shape and texture from a combination of both theory and practice sessions. DRAWING TECHNIQUES (Eng., Tr.) Participants of this course will be working with academic drawing and also will gain the experience of discovering their own personal drawing technique. Following the patterns made by observing optical reality and proportional accuracy, pattern studies will be done in free form. DRAWING BY A MODEL (Eng., Tr.) This course concentrates on drawing the human form through the use of different painting materials and techniques. Participants will acquire a variety of new skills and knowledge relating to sight and abstraction. MODELLING WITH CLAY (Eng., Tr.) The modelling course is centred on the use of clay as a medium. Participants will realise the link between form and material and will be able to create abstract or figurative works in minimal size.
8 ARCAD 8 CERAMICS (Eng., Tr.) This course focuses on all the production processes carried out by a ceramics atelier. Participants gain new skills and knowledge on modelling, glazing and burning techniques. Participants who are familiar with related techniques will have the opportunity to work at an advanced level. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & PHOTO-MANIPULATION (Eng., Tr.) This course is based on making changes to photos via painting, cutting and pasting and filtration tools on the computer. Participants will acquire new skills and knowledge from a combination of both theory and practice sessions. 3D ARCHITECTURAL MODELLING (Eng., Tr.) This course is based on 3D digital design of space and environment. Participants acquire new skills and knowledge in drawing, colouring and sizing on 3D architectural designs that can be used in architectural projects and animation. 3D ORGANIC MODELLING (Eng., Tr.) This course is based on 3D digital design of organic forms, namely humans, animals and plants. Participants will acquire new skills and knowledge in drawing, colouring and sizing on 3D digital organic designs. BASIC ANIMATION (Eng., Tr.) This course is based on the art of 2D and 3D motion pictures: Animation. Participants of the course will acquire new skills and knowledge in animation from a combination of both theory and practice sessions in manual and digital platforms.
9 9 ARCAD ILLUSTRATION (Eng., Tr.) Illustration is the art of visualising the literal meaning of a text. This course is based on teaching the graphical production processes of illustration. Participants will acquire new skills and knowledge on illustration through a combination of both traditional and digital techniques. BASIC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (Eng., Tr.) Participants will acquire basic information about digital photography techniques, methods and the ability to take pictures under different concepts. It is also aimed to give the acquisition of the artistic view and technical experience in the photographs with the applications. MOVEMENTS IN MODERN ART (Tr.) This course focuses on all modern art movements, ranging from early Impressionism up to the end of the 20th Century. Participants will acquire new knowledge of modern art movements from a combination of both philosophy and literature following the historical time line. COLOR AS A LANGUAGE (Eng.) Participants acquire new skills and knowledge of the way artists use colour in their paintings, the psychological meaning of colours and the semiotic use of colours in graphic design. PRINTMAKING (Eng., Tr.) In this programme, where engraving techniques such as linoleum, zinc, wood and stone will be taught, participants will rise to the level whereby they are able to develop their competence in the field and produced original printing.
10 ARCAD 10 GRAPHIC DESIGN (Eng., Tr.) Graphic design is one of the most common visual communication studies in the field of poster design, book and magazine cover design. It is an effective visual link between art and graphics. In this programme participants will learn the conceptual working discipline and technical / aesthetic processes of graphic design. EDITORIAL DESIGN (Eng., Tr.) Book and magazine design will be a graphic design program made through the Indesign program for designs such as layout. CREATIVE WRITING (Tr.) This program covers elements of five major creative writing genres: short story, narrative essay, novel and poetry. The attendants will master the techniques that good writers use to compose a text, written in a fresh style. The participants will develop skills for understanding not only how successful literary works are constructed but also for working with their individual creative processes so that their own works become realised. To this end, each week will ask a key question linking both form and process, and will offer writing exercises that encourage students to advance on their drafts while at the same time enlarging their toolbox of both techniques and productive habits of mind. At the end of this course, you will have produced the first draft or a section of an original work in the genre of your own choosing.
11 11 ARCAD PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION (Tr.) Philosophy of education is a field of study that explains the nature of education and studies the aims of education. Educators need to develop themselves through this discipline since it would enable them to question the meaning, limits and method of education process. Philosophy of education also explains the theories of education and therefore leads educators to form a specific education process in accordance with the purposes that are suitable for society. The course will provide an understanding for educators in order to make education more effective both for the educators and for the society. Focusing mainly on art education and theories on teaching art, this course would be beneficial especially for educators involved with art in their teaching. VISUAL POETRY (Eng., Tr.) This course explores the relationship between image and text and introduces participants to a range of diverse multimedia techniques and traditions of poetry production as art, rather than purely, or predominantly, literary practice. İnspired by a range of examples from classical Hellenic pattern poetry to 20th and 21st century art movements such as Surrealism, Concrete Poetry, Fluxus, Haptic Poetry, Asemic Writing and Digital Poetry, participants will have the opportunity to develop their own practice in a multimedia totality of poetics using diverse methods including collage, found writing, drawing, painting, digital image, film, photography and live performance. The course is suitable for all levels from those new to both poetry and art production who wish to explore and enhance their creativity to professional practitioners of both poetry and visual art.
