6 Splice Housing Development Journey Jan 09 EMEC part funded development contract to design and qualify housing The engineering challenge EMEC is a Test site had to be re-usable for different devices under test Buildability - Preparation and termination of 3 HV power cores, Fibre optic core and LV core within a 24 hour period Telemetry Low loss from Fibre optics Discharge PD free in stop end mode to enable cable testing Strain Frame to withstand an 8 tonne pull load Hyperbaric testing Life Able to sit on the seabed for 25 years corrosion protection Rigour - Tides running at up to 12 knots All challengers overcome and qualification finally completed in May 10 The only qualified splice housing solution in the market place J+S Ltd Subsea 2011 Slide 6
