Yu will explre an integrated range f animatin studi practice t enhance yur emplyability, thrugh engagement n a range f external, cllabrative and live prject briefs. This will give yu the pprtunity t build a wrking prductin CV prir t leaving the University and being fit fr the studi wrk placement r entry-level practice in Industry. Emplyability is built in thrughut the curriculum and is an integral aspect f the exit strategy upn graduatin. Staff are dedicated t adding value t the cre curriculum. They have established an events schedule, which includes Animatin Master classes at regular intervals. Recent speakers have included Ed Hks, Janna Quinn, Barry Purves and David Sprxtn as well as leading Animatin and Effects studis such as Cinesite, Duble Negative and Huse f Curves. The British Animatin Awards (BAAs) screenings have been curated at Staffrdshire University. Teaching and Learning Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategies The emphasis thrughut the award is n yur ability t explre believable mvement and perfrmance in animatin. Integral t this is design research, theretical understanding and studi prjects all f which are designed t establish a chesive strategy f cntextual and experiential learning in a creative envirnment. An equitable set f assessment prcedures will be emplyed t gauge yur learning and prgressin thrughut each semester. Teaching Methds Yu will be intrduced t a fcused range f teaching methds in animatin principles perfrmance and prductin techniques, methds that yu will emply acrss the prgramme t prduce animatin in a range f appraches. Yu will d this thrugh understanding hw acting principles are applied t animatin in the bservatin f mvement and the explratin f a characters mtivatins in vercming cnflicts f self, ther and place in a theatrical, narrative perfrmance. Integratin f thery and practice. Each mdule makes a link between understanding the cntextual basis f each aspect f an animatin prductin and its anticipated audience. This assimilatin f theretical framewrk and skills-based learning supprts a prblem slving, applied and cllabrative apprach t study. Yu must assimilate theretical research thrugh independent study time in a range f written and visual presentatins alngside yur studi practice. Thrugh the curse yu will prgress twards independent learning and develp yur ability t self-manage yur wn prject wrk. Teaching at Level 4 is rganised n the principle f identifying yur ambitins fr the curse and examining yur strengths and weaknesses. Thrugh the intrductin f the persnal develpment prtfli (PDP) yu will be intrduced t an eths that prmtes reflective learning, building upwards frm this initial diagnsis. Thrugh each level yu will be expsed, a step at a time, t increasingly cmplex challenges t yur ability t articulate yur ideas, thrugh a variety f media at public screenings r via bradcast. Students then develp independent learning strategy by reviewing and evaluating what they have prduced, incrprating respnses frm yur peers and tutrs, and synthesising that feedback befre prgressing t the next stage. The Cre mdules and sme f the Studi-based mdules will be based n a brief set by the award r mdule leader r an external agency r cmpany. Assessment The Learning Outcmes frm the structure arund which the assessment f mdules is built. The University has designated 8 generic Learning Outcmes fr all undergraduate awards and allwed fr up t 2 further t be specified fr each award. Fr the Stp Mtin & Puppet Making award tw award specific utcmes are included: Visual Analysis and Wrking with Others. The award team see this as an essential aspect f yur future emplyability within the field f animatin, which is cmpletely team lead. Visual Analysis ensures there is a clear appreciatin f ptential audiences and prductin viability. Wrking with Others is built int at least 1 cre mdule per Level with Level 6 having 3 mdules cntaining this utcme and a clear remit t wrk with external clients as a respnse. Cursewrk, carried ut in respnse t assignments, prject briefs r self initiated prpsals and presented in frms apprpriate t prfessinal practice, allws students t demnstrate the acquisitin f learning utcmes thrugh a variety f strategies. Assessment f all 10 Level utcmes is built acrss the cre delivery and is measured n at least ne ccasin at Levels 4, 5and 6. As animatin has 3 main phases f prductin the curse assessment prcedure will reflect distinct benchmarks f prductin thrugh frmal presentatins f wrk at designated times during each semester. This prcess engenders discipline in keeping t schedule and presenting wrk at fixed deadlines. This is essential in any bradcast medium and builds planning int all aspects f the cursewrk. This frms the frmative aspect f assessment in giving imprtant academic feedback and gives the students pprtunity t reflect n what further may be needed prir t final 12

The utcme f the perfrmance at frmative panels is discussed during individual tutrials and the student is advised as t what strengths and weaknesses there are in the wrk. Frmal, scheduled academic tutrials are recrded n an academic tutrial recrd frm and agreed by bth student and tutr with ne cpy f the frm retained by the student. Summative assessment takes place at the end f each mdule where written feedback and indicative grade pint are prvided.
