3 1. Abstract During the last couple of years, the digital currency market has seen an interesting evolution. Cryptocurrencies as we know them have begun to serve many different purposes, other than being a means of sending money from one person to another. This has led to the appearance of numerous innovative, crypto-based projects that are bound to revolutionize numerous aspects of our daily lives, ranging from technology, to the financial market. At this moment in time, the IT environment is being modernised by two separate technologies: blockchain and artificial intelligence (A.I.). Yet, the innovation hasn t stopped for neither of the two. Therefore, what would happen if the two technologies would be united to serve under a similar purpose? This is exactly what the team behind Fornix thought about, prior to coming up with the project idea. With this aspect in mind, Fornix wishes to provide the cognitive interconnection between blockchain and artificial intelligence. By doing so, the true strength of the two technological pillars can be achieved. The team is currently in the process of developing a new technology that will bring together the structure of the blockchain technology and the real-time incremental learning and data fusion associated with artificial intelligence. In return, this will help make faster and simpler masternodes a reality, while also bringing an increase in transactions and a decrease in terms of resources being used up. 2

4 2. The Crypto Story So Far Back in 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto was busy at work, creating the world s first decentralized digital currency based on blockchain technology Bitcoin. While it did not take long for the cryptocurrency trend to catch on, people started noticing the true potential of blockchain technology much later. Anyhow, the introduction of blockchain hasn t only revolutionized the way the world deals with money, but rather has brought about numerous other forms of innovation, given the high potential associated with the tech. With time, the world begun moving away from centralized forms of data storage, and their afferent systemic weak data security protocols, which made it easy for other people to steal or control data, without the users knowledge. Blockchain technology also brought forward a new level for transactions, thus making speed no longer an issue. Apart from this, the market has also recognized the inherent complexity associated with the blockchain ecosystem, especially when dealing with cryptography and its vast computational requirements. On the other hand, artificial intelligence has also seen an exponential growth in popularity, as it now has become easier than ever for A.I. systems to adapt into existing networks and infrastructures. A.I. is now capable of learning from available data, while simultaneously integrating and implementing what it learns into similar datasets. This, has not only provided a better understanding of data in general, but has also led to the increased popularity and complexity of machine learning protocols. For long, the two technologies have been considered as incompatible, yet the truth is that there was not close to enough effort being made, in order to find blockchain and A.I. integration possibilities. Given the appearance of Fornix, this is about to change, as the project will implement the two technologies, into a new and exciting framework, capable of changing the way we see digital currencies forever. 3

5 2.1 The Problem If blockchain technology and artificial intelligence have worked seamlessly and independently so far, why attempt to create a new trend that would combine the two? To kick things off, Fornix believes that the two technologies are indeed opposing, yet they have great potential of complementing one another. At this moment in time, blockchain technology works well-enough, yet it only does what it has been programmed to do. Therefore, in more advanced applications, upon encountering a solution that it hasn t been programmed to resolve, the standard blockchain network fails to deliver, thus delaying transactions, and requiring the help of someone with independent decision authority. A.I., on the other hand, delivers decision making, data understanding and recognition within its ecosystem. 4

6 3. Fornix Our Purpose The main goal of Fornix is to help advance technological development, by finding a way to merge blockchain and A.I., and creating an innovative cryptocurrency. With this in mind, the development team is actively looking for smart ways to implement the main strengths of the two technologies. By doing so, Fornix is taking a big leap towards its main purpose creating a revolution in the crypto ecosystem. It is important to point out the fact that the blockchain structure has close to unlimited potential when it comes down to providing decentralized data exchange, alongside with levels of security and trust that are unrivalled so far. This is mostly due to the fundamental immutable transaction storage feature that blockchain provides. Not only this, but the distributed database structure has another main benefit: allowing for authenticity verification, while no longer having to rely on third party intermediaries, which cost people throughout the world money and time. Artificial Intelligence can provide unparalleled decision making, understanding of data and recognition within closed ecosystem. A.I. is well-known for the fact that it can improve both decision making and data assessment, through its cognitive algorithms that form the base of the entire system. The team behind Fornix is well-aware that technological advancements are useless, unless systems are easy to use, hence why usability remains a top priority for the system. Fornix will achieve this by simplifying the blockchain and merging datasets with artificial intelligence, resulting in a highly-qualitative dataset. Additionally, by attempting to redefine the way we interact with data, the network will follow, and thus get access to better skills when it comes down to responding to unwanted activities, such as double-spending. 5

7 4. The Fornix Solution In a few words, the Fornix solution is as follows: Merging the core super structure of blockchain technology, with the adaptive and fluidic growth or artificial intelligence. What this means for the community, is a platform that harnesses all strengths of the two technological systems, thus creating a platform based on both blockchain and A.I. While the security foundation of the blockchain network is limited to blockchain-based applications and use cases only, A.I. integration transforms it into the best building blocks for any platform. Therefore, A.I. begins where blockchain ends, whereas blockchain begins where A.I. ends. Unlike many other systems available on the market, Fornix will be able to fuse available data back into the chain, therefore allowing the chain to be more streamlined and economized. Through this, Fornix will create a more compact, and usable chain that constantly learns from itself, and improves data integrity along structural complexity of the network. Another great benefit associated with this integration, is the fact that Fornix will improve the integration with mining nodes available on the network, hence reducing energy consumption. Additionally, the system will also build an interactive network by using critical data integration and fusion. However, it will maintain critical data at all times, through the blockchain structures. Better said, Fornix represents the beginning of a living blockchain that will surely surpass the current industry norm. 4.1 Masternodes Merging the technologies will allow the multi-faced artificial intelligence protocols to provide a necessary boost to blockchain technology, thus leading to the creation of a superchain. This can also be defined as a persistent consensus of cognitive data fusion, 6

8 capable of delivering faster and smarter masternodes on the network. The possibilities do not end here, however. In fact, these masternodes will use less energy and computational hardware, thus saving masternode owners significant amounts of money. 4.2 Proof-of-Stake (PoS) During the last couple of months, proof-of-stake algorithms have begun becoming more popular, when compared to the proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm, known for its implementation in bitcoin core. PoS represents a type of algorithm where a blockchain aims to achieve full, distributed consensus amongst its nodes. PoS algorithms are different, since the creator of the next block is chosen via a wide array of combinations and random selection, whereas PoW uses intensive mathematical puzzles that computers have to solve, in order to validate and create new blocks on the distributed ledger. In order to take full advantage of the mechanisms associated with Fornix, Proof-of-Stake has been chosen over Proof-of-Work, as the choice for the masternode network. The main reason behind this is the fact that PoS has been proven to be both more secure, while also being less energy consumptive. Additionally, PoS is also more suitable, given the continuous cognitive learning that will be happening on the Fornix network nodes. 7

9 5. Use Cases As Fornix will provide a living blockchain, there are a wide variety of possible use cases for the technology. Possible use cases for the platform include, but are not limited to: a) Decentralized intelligence: algorithm training platforms, B2B A.I. monetization services, decentralized A.I. workforce, automated services marketplaces; c) Conversational platforms: A.I. assistants for homes that require access to data, chat bots with no predefined answers; b) Prediction platforms: collective intelligence, crowd-based predictions using secure data; d) Data crawlers: being able to ask for data, and receive accurate information, extracted from the blockchain network, and curated by A.I. 8

10 6. Coin Details Fornix likes to think of its FIX coin, as an asset that can be held for profit. However, it also serves as the main factor for the masternode network, therefore providing a price indicator of the belief in the project. The community can use FIX for stacking and using their masternode, but also for exchange-based trading later down the road.
