Ceramic liner-tubes for flowmeters, as well as isolation shells for magnetically-coupled chemical pumps have advanced to standard applications: universal fittings for all media hot, corrosive, abrasive or where there is a risk of contamination.

Their origins lie in the development laboratories in Mannheim. Different demands are made by battery producers. They press strongly alkaline zinc-manganese dioxide powder into cells. The battery life is apparently much longer since they have been formed in a ceramic pressing die instead of a metallic form.
