Organization Purpose Increase the participation of Swedish Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Horizon 2020 and Eurostars
Problem & Solution Horizon 2020 is a large and complex program that can be difficult to navigate in. The solution is a SME support office! - Help the SMEs understand if they should apply - Increase the quality of their proposals when they decide to go ahead - Facilitate their participation after successful evaluation
About Us Consortium of 6 organizations RISE (project leader) IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet LTU Business (Luleå Tekniska Universitet) SwedenBIO Swerea IVF Uminova Innovation AB (Umeå) National coverage Industry/Sector coverage Enterprise Europe Network competence Financed by Vinnova and Tillväxtverket
Value proposition EUSMESupport2020 offer a free of charge one stop shop support service for SMEs The office is easy to contact via our Helpdesk. Response within 48 hour. Partners in the network have long experience of participating in the EU's framework programs and to support the Swedish industry High quality feedback on applications

Our Services Curious about EU funding? Attend an information meeting ( Book support meeting to discuss preliminary ideas and formulate a project concept. I'm drafting an application. Attend SME Instrument/ Eurostars workshops Get feedback on application My application got rejected. Review of evaluation report on rejection. Get feedback on new version of application I got my project funded! Help with reporting Prepare for auditing EEN provides KAM (SME Instrument) identify relevant programs/calls. get advice for finding project partners and how to build a consortium. get advice when register at the EU data base. get advice on alternative funding via EEN. We neither write the application nor act as a project leader.
SME Instrument What s New? 1. Full bottom-up selection approach pre-defined topics removed 2. Overhaul of the submission forms simplified + more business-oriented 3. Pool of expert-evaluators evaluators with investor profile has been significantly increased 4. Face-to-face interviews with selected Phase 2 applicants best and most disruptive innovation ideas pass the cut
SME Instrument 6 lessons learnt Too much focused on the project and not enough on the business opportunity. Not convincing when describing the company (you have to explain why your company will succeed and not your competitor). Not providing enough information on competing solutions. Having a too low level of innovation, planning to develop a product that already exists on the market. Proposing just an idea without any concept for its commercialisation. Just trying their luck (the SME Instrument is not a lottery!).
