5 5 Inclusive and liveable: Map Kabira, Kenya Map Kabira Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya, is one of the largest slums in Africa and was a blank spot on the map until November 2009, when young Kiberans created the first free and open digital map of their own community using simple GPS devices and uploading data to Open Street Map. Three stages: 1.Basic crowdsourced data about the location of clinics, toilets, health, security, education, and water/sanitation, places of worship, etc. 2.A storytelling layer, capturing personal accounts, stories, and news of Kibera residents 3.Voice of Kibera website: an online news and information-sharing platform for the Kibera community.

6 Efficient, effective & inclusive: Indian Smart Cities US$ 7.5 Billion over 5 years for 100 cities Smart Cities Challenge launched in cities selected in 2015, 20 in 2016 Using mobile technology to track how citizens experience water service delivery in India Citizen feedback is collecting and analysed providing a reality check on service levels from the citizens standpoint Provides city managers and service providers with granular data at the sub-city level (ward/zone) which can facilitate improved monitoring and problem solving Most importantly, provides a suitable platform to engage citizens in performance monitoring processes and encourages them to demand better services. The project was implemented in two cities of India during 2013 and is now being replicated in 20 more. 6
