2) BIM Enabling and Emerging Technology Reliance on virtual design models is common practice in the manufacturing industry for decades (e.g. Aerospace and Automobile). Engineers use models at the core of their collaborative, LEAN, concurrent engineering for years, to support the product lifecycle. Vibration Testing Crash Collision Simulation 7
2) BIM Enabling and Emerging Technology - Building Information Model (BIM) is not just 3D model - Digital representation of physical, functional and operational of a facility. MANAGE PLAN BUILD DESIGN - Serves as a shared database for information about the facility. Image Source: Gianluca Lange, ASEAN, Autodesk - BIM is not a software; it is a process of collaborative data sharing. 8

3) The Prototype Research Proposals (Challenges) CHALLENGE (1): Future Urban Designers and Policy Makers will require a revolutionary approach to harness and evaluate in real-time the different urban design schemes to avoid uninformed decision making. Therefore, a dynamic visualization approach and workflow for urban prototyping will be produced in this work that combines BIM and sensory technology to generate self-updating BIM urban models. The project seeks new approach for urban design synthesis, where the automated urban prototype is intelligent to update itself using BIM and sensory technology. 12
3) The Prototype Research Proposals (Challenges) CHALLENGE (2): The urban city prototype specification should meet the industry standards. For example: the forms of human-data interaction and data interoperability, data-mining for exploring what if scenarios with reduced human intervention to save considerable time and expenses. Assists City Planner to evaluate and compare comparing the As- Designed versus As-Existing for different urban design schemes. 13
3) The Prototype Research Proposals (Challenges) CHALLENGE (3): To provide Urban Planning Authorities like Municipalities and Estate Development companies in the KSA with practical framework to take advantage from the benefits of BIM and urban simulation. To overcome many of the un-informed decisions founded on traditional planning process when assessing the long-term impact of urban built environment. Making the experimentation with the urban prototypes may lead to different city forms. 14
