11 Available estimates of the extent of Marine/Maritime activities are 6% of regional GDP and 60,000 jobs The Canary Islands Marine/Maritime Strategy has set the goal of doubling its contribution to Canary Islands GDP in the marine/maritime sector in The Strategy has resulted from the combined effort of seven working groups comprising agents from the private sector, RDI and the various public administrations: Support from the port to develop offshore business Port infrastructure and services Safe and security Maritime transport Fishing and aquaculture Nautical tourism Technology-based economic activities, RDI.
