2 POLYOLEFIN CATALYSTS AND PROCESSES: TECHNOLOGICAL AND COMMERCIAL IMPACTS ON PE AND PP JUST LAUNCHED- I. INTRODUCTION A client of TCGR requested to have a report commissioned on the polyolefins industry as it relates to current & future (i) catalysts, (ii) process technologies, and (iii) applications. However, this client did not want to pay for this study on their own but instead suggested that TCGR inquire with other industry participants if they would be interested in this report & would be interested in sharing the cost equally. TCGR has contacted a select number of additional industry participants to see if they would like to participate in this report. II. OBJECTIVE Looking through 2025, TCGR will consider commercial and technological developments that will provide report subscribers with expert information for future business planning. By focusing on emerging technologies, as well as how expiring patents will impact on applications (e.g. new wire and cable, auto etc.) TCGR will detail how changes occurring now & scheduled to occur will impact the industry of tomorrow. III. SCOPE PP & PE recent catalyst, process technology, and application changes and their impact on production and application developments. (see revised/expanded Table of Contents, which includes feedback from charter subscribers, on pp 4-5) IV. METHODOLOGY TCGR will primarily utilize polyolefin experts that have >30 years industry experience (a mixture of commercial & technical) in completing this study. TCGR also utilizes publicly available and in-house information to complete the deliverables as well as patent searches, technical literature reviews, and infield interviews with catalyst manufacturers and process licensors. V. TCGR S UNIQUE EXPERTISE! In addition to its in-house expertise, TCGR will utilize a combination of Dialog Group experts to assist with completing this report. These industry experts have deep experience in PO technology from a process technology, catalyst technology & application perspective. Presented below are examples of authors that TCGR intends to utilize for this report: 2

3 Dialog Group Expert 1: This expert recently retired from a large chemical company as Global Director of New Business Development. In this role, his main responsibilities were to identify and manage the new business development portfolio for their Performance plastics division, as well as identifying key partners for new platforms & technologies. Prior to this role, he held the position of R&D Director. Within this role he defined the key technology strategy for new market participation in consumer goods, building and construction and others. A main responsibility was to partner with other business directors to ensure alignment of R&D direction to business strategies. Dialog Group Expert 2: This expert has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Physics of Polymers, as well as a Masters in Chemical Engineering. This consultant s career spans 40 years and he has held previous positions as R&D VP at a major Oil Company and R&D Director at an innovative chemical company. The expert s experience in polyolefins includes: 15 years experience as a technology manager. His role included product development, catalyst development, technical service and plant assistance. Numerous products were developed more specifically for plastic modification, adhesive, roofing, mechanical rubber compound. Also responsible for process technology enhancements. Led R&D efforts focusing on metallocene catalysts Dialog Group Expert 3: This expert recently retired after 40 years with DuPont in a variety of roles. In his last role as Marketing & Development Manager, he was responsible for new business development in the North America automotive market for DuPont high performance engineering polymer resins and elastomers. Global lead for automotive powertrain segment market development & responsible for development and startup of new Automotive Innovation Center. This expert has a BS Chemical Engineering from a major US state university s Institute of Technology. VI. Deliverables The report will be delivered in powerpoint format and consist of slides structured according to the outline on pp 4-5 VII. PRICE $15.5K per participant. See page 6. Advances in Applications Objective: Chapter details how progress in product development and expiring patents will impact applications Scope: Future PP/PE application requirements ; Opportunity/threat identification and assessment, considering PE-specific and PP-specific progress: New resin performance capabilities, including high-end PE, PP (e.g., Hivalloy, Versify) Novel end-use requirements Lapsing patents/ip Substitution by competitive materials (via cost, density or other characteristics) Case studies will outline where application developments are taking place (e.g. resin supplier vs. end-user/fabricator) and consider issues with freedom to operate (resin supply) in particular applications.
