1 SCHOOL OF EDUCATION PRIMARY CURRICULUM SPECIALISATION ELECTIVES AND CODES Bundoora 2018 Information for Bachelor of Education students Bachelor of Education students need to complete a minimum of four subjects (known as a Sub-major or Minor) in a curriculum area. Bachelor of Education (Primary) All students in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) will undertake a curriculum specialisation in one of: English, Science, Mathematics, s, Humanities, Arts, Health Education, or Physical Education. Alternatively, students may elect to complete a combination of discipline subjects in a STEAM specialisation (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). A curriculum specialisation in Primary STEAM comprises four first year subjects from different disciplines. Two first year subjects and two second year subjects are expected in other specialisations. The information below contains suggested 1 st, 2nd and 3rd year discipline subjects, provided as a guide only to enable students to make subject choices and are subject to availability. Students should plan their curriculum studies by checking the 2 nd and 3 rd year subjects they would like to do before choosing their 1 st year subjects. Choices may be limited due to pre-requisite requirements and location availability. Please use the University s Undergraduate section of the Handbook for more up-to-date information about subject options and availability. The Handbook can be accessed at Student Administration Advisors can also provide you with further advice and assistance.
