6 BUREAU VERITAS Recognition for responsible fishing Created in 2005 as private standard by BV : Specifications on 4 Responsibilities: -> Food safety sensorial quality & traceability -> Marine Resources biodiversity (selectivity, min.size, bycatch..) -> Environment (pollution prevention, energy, CFC, CO2 ) Fishing vessels -> Safety of crew -workers and social best practices + integration of processing plants for traceability & quality This BV private scheme is proposed when MSC is not accessible (on fishery level) -> BV standard is applicable on fishing company level as responsible player in a fishery which is not eligible to international CER (MSC or other) Possibility of annual review of the standard with progress plan / responsibility coverage Market recognition? Mainly in France, Spain (in developpement in Asia) Existing 60 fishing vessels (Atlantic, Indian, Pacific Ocean + Antarctic) + 6 processing plants (France, Spain, Mauritius, Seychelles, Namibia, Argentina,) 6
