1 CfA HNoD "Digitalization and the Overwhelmed Individual" Call for Applications HNoD Hertie Network on Digitalization Saturday, 18 November Sunday, 19 November 2017 Berlin, Germany

2 Intro The Hertie Network on Digitalization s (HNoD) 6 th general meeting will take place on November 2017 at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Like every edition, the event warmly invites all Hertie fellows interested in the different facets of digitalization. Under the overarching theme of "Digitalization and the Overwhelmed Individual", HNoD sets out to discuss how digitalization has impacted our everyday lives. This edition will take on a 360 -view on the subject and invites professionals from the various areas to discuss the changes that digitalization has brought about. We will be looking at the ways in which digitalization has impacted the way organizations and individuals carry out their daily activities and the ways in which these changes trigger new challenges as well as opportunities in our personal lives. Elements of HNoD s 6 th general meeting: Networking and discussing the newest developments concerning HNoD. To get to know the network better, there will be a session with short presentations of projects or organizations by several network members. Keynote sessions, panel, interactive presentations and Digital Detox session On Saturday, we will start with a networking session and have HNoD members present their current work and projects. Then, we will look at digitization from the point of view of employee representatives and the European Commission and discuss the changes that digitalization brought about in the work organization - the emergence of new forms of work and increased flexibility, the impact that digitalization has on the qualification and competence requirements for employees as well as the development of new solutions to ease the burden of public service transactions. On Sunday, our own experiences with the sometimes excessive demands of the digital transformation will take center stage such as the speed and amount of communication, expectations of permanent availability or the search for perfecting our personal lives with digital tools. In a digital detox coaching session by a trainer from TheDoSchool we will learn and experience analog tools and practices for the conscious handling of our most precious resource: time. 4 Travel Reimbursements For those residing outside Berlin: After your registration please send an to Ms. Cosmina Radu to discuss your travel arrangements. Please note: travel expenses will be covered according to the travel reimbursement scheme available here. Application The spot allocation for HNoD s 6 th general assembly will take place on a "firstcome, first-served" basis. Especially for participants residing outside Berlin an early registration is recommended to make the necessary travel arrangements as soon as possible. Registration Form Deadline Thursday, 9 November 2017 HNoD Hertie Network on Digitalization The Hertie Network on Digitalization (HNoD) is targeted at all Hertie fellows interested in a network that works on the societal, political and economic implications of digitalization. As an initiative mainly driven by the participation, engagement and expertise of its members, we are looking for proactive personalities working / interested in the field of digitalization or at the intersection between digitalization and other areas. Our diverse community appreciates that your profession may be connected to digitalization in different ways. Although we would be thrilled to greet you in person in Berlin, your participation in the HnoD general assembly is not a prerequisite for becoming a member of the Hertie Network on Digitalization.
