2 VISION The central role of manufacturing within the global economic system is demonstrated by its capacity to trigger inclusive transformation and to have a multiplier effect on the increase of trade and on the creation of jobs in the service sector. The World Manufacturing Forum is an open platform that aims at enhancing and spreading industrial culture worldwide, as a means to ensure economic equity and sustainable development.

3 MISSION The WMF promotes innovation and development in the manufacturing sector, with the fundamental goal of improving competitiveness in all nations through dialogue and cooperation among the manufacturing sector s key players. The WMF will pursue its goals by: Supporting and influencing national and international industrial agendas Providing a framework onto which top-level companies, governments, academic institutions and social organizations can meet and exchange opinions Acting as a catalyst for finding innovative solutions to major global challenges Disseminating knowledge through international and regional meetings and publications

4 ACTIVITIES WMF GLOBAL REPORT A yearly report that addresses relevant manufacturing sector s issues and outlines the most significant trends and policy proposals Supported by high-level industrial and academic representatives to guarantee its international authoritativeness The opportunity to present the WMF Global Report A prestigious by-invitation-only event where global policy experts, industrial leaders and eminent academic and research innovators address the challenges and trends in global manufacturing WMF REGIONAL EVENTS Organization and promotion of events with a thematic link with the WMF Annual Meeting, further spreading the WMF vision and priorities all over the world Regional events address global and local manufacturing issues and trends, influencing at the same time the agenda of the WMF Report and Annual Meeting

9 27-28 September 2018 Cernobbio, Lake Como, Italy Session outlines - Day 1 SESSION 1 Manufacturing industry as value added for society SESSION 2 Innovation priorities by 2030 in the world Societal prosperity is shaped by key dimensions such as health, education, work conditions and political freedom. This session aims at debating the relationship between this categories and manufacturing development. This session will explore how the worldwide industry is answering to the manufacturing megatrends, in order to satisfy the 2030 manufacturing global goals. The fourth industrial revolution demonstrates how key enabling technologies help to transform innovative ideas into new products and services.

SESSION 4 Solving the manufacturing skill challenges: creating a skills marketplace This session aims to assess how information on job evolution and skill requirements are used by countries to review and renew their education and training systems. Moreover, it will identify and discuss the development of national and international frameworks that support coordination between education and labour market.

The session aims to explore the current situation of manufacturing development in emerging countries and the importance of embracing the digital revolution. A fast-changing scenario such as that of the fourth industrial revolution should be accompanied by a modernization of relations between banks and business. This session aims at discussing the role of both traditional and alternative credit instruments to ﬁnance the activities of manufacturing companies.

The session will present case studies and environmental strategies to demonstrate how a circular economy could beneﬁt the environment while boosting competitiveness and resilience, aiming at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals The session presents the emerging technologies that could deﬁne the future of manufacturing, investigating at the same time the challenges of the digital industrial revolution such as standardization and cyber security.
