RTS Introduction Structure Deflection Monitoring System SDM Frame Instrumentation Software Installation Support Performance History P. 2
RTS is a major supplier of subsea electronics, engineering and services to the subsea industry. Founded in 2002, located in Åkrehamn, Norway. Partner with Seatronics Group with bases in Aberdeen, Singapore, Houston, Abu Dhabi, Macaé and Perth. Core Business: RENTAL Complete range of survey equipment and ROV tooling TECHNOLOGY In-house engineering department specializing in monitoring solutions and interfacing Product development SERVICES Mobilization Support Product Support Offshore personnel for bespoke solutions P. 3
The RTS Structure Deflection Monitoring System is an instrument package for monitoring deflection (bending), heading, pitch, roll, depth and other parameters of subsea structures (i.e. subsea templates) during descent and deployment. The system provides the user with live data and graphical displays of the required parameters (and optional video). This will aid the user in decision-making during critical operations and make sure specified tolerances and safety requirements are upheld. The collected SDM data is supplied as a deliverable and can be replayed post-operation. The SDM system can also be configured for long term monitoring with automated wake-up and sleep (up to 12 months) post-installation. System consists of a central frame containing system controller and logger, gyro, subsea displays, batteries, acoustic telemetry, ROV-operated switch, ROV hot stab and optional auxiliary sensors. Depth sensors, Differential Pressure sensors, Inclinometers and other sensory equipment can either be separately hard-wired from placement on structure (i.e. suction anchor) and back to SDM frame to ensure redundancy and minimize error sources, or supplied with breakout wiring. P. 4
RTS SDM Frame Compact and robust stainless steel frame Proven design Protection covers Certified lifting points (4x) with rigging supplied ROV-operated switch ROV Hot Stab P. 5
Internal Data Logger (SD) Real Time Clock for all sensor data Extremely low power consumption and monitoring of batteries and external sensors Auto fuses and relay control for all external sensors Deep Sleep Function RTS Developed Data Transmission Protocol for faster acoustic transmission (Pallando) Ethernet and Wireless communication Comms port for direct connection of primary and secondary SDM system Connections: 1 x Heading and Attitude sensor 8 x Depth/Pressure/Altimeter/Inclination sensors (or optional Video) 4 x Differential Pressure sensors 1 x Acoustic Modem and/or Transponder 1 x RF Switch and Communication 1 x Wet-mateable Stab Connector 3 x Subsea Display 3 x Subsea Battery Package connections P. 6

RTS Power Pack Alkaline battery pack 24 VDC 54 Ah Capacity per unit (3 units standard per system) 3000m rated titanium housing Dims.: 395mm x ø170mm Optional: Lithium battery pack Video Composite Video can be interfaced through the Subsea Logger with up to 4x Cameras simultaneously. (Note that this is only available through the use of the Hot Stab connection.) Any type of subsea composite video camera can be interfaced. As an example, previous projects have used the Imenco Whitetip Shark cameras with built-in lighting to visually monitor structure movements relative to a pre-deployed ruler. P. 9
Inclinometers Subsea inclinometers can be interfaced on request: Examples: CDL MiniTilt, SBG, Vectory Microrad and others. External Sensors A number of other sensors can be interfaced upon request. P. 10
DATA TELEMETRY The SDM System can operate with a wide variety of data telemetry options. Please see most common options below: Kongsberg cnode (HiPAP Modem) Cymbal Wideband acoustic telemetry Can be run on APOS Survey OS Tested and qualified for use with SDM system Benthos Acoustic Modem (ATM-886/926) LF acoustic telemetry Generic data string Sonardyne ucomm Acoustic Modem Wideband acoustic telemetry Generic data string P. 11
SYSTEM COMPONENT OVERVIEW P. 12
TOPSIDE GUI The RTS SDM System (Generation II) is supplied with a proprietary software developed at RTS. Based on many years of experience with major installations using the SDM I, a new software has been developed to further enhance user control and visibility during testing, calibration, deployment and post-project. Live graphic and numerical data Installation tolerance alarms Logging & Playback Event Screenshots Improved update rates Power and comms diagnostics Automated equipment initialization P. 13
STRUCTURE INSTALLATION A typical installation includes the following components: 2 x SDM frames (primary and secondary system) 8 x Pressure sensors (2 x on each suction anchor) Optional: 4 x Differential pressure sensors (1 x on each suction anchor) 8 x Subsea cables for pressure sensors (full redundancy). (Differential pressure sensors can be interfaced through the same cables) Transponders for positioning P. 14
STRUCTURE BRACKETRY Brackets for SDM frames and sensors are normally supplied by the customer, but can also be supplied by RTS on request. See examples of brackets below: SDM FRAME PRESSURE SENSORS P. 15
SYSTEM TOPOGRAPHY SUCTION ANCHOR SUCTION ANCHOR A standard setup will provide 100% redundancy through the use of two systems. The two systems can also be connected to provide data from both systems simultaneously via acoustic modem or hot stab. SUBSEA STRUCTURE Note that components like the acoustic modem, hot stab connector and internal sensors can be installed away from the SDM frame if required. A typical application of this feature is moving the hot stab connector to the suction panel in order to reduce the number of ROVs required to run the operation. SUCTION ANCHOR SUCTION ANCHOR P. 16
VESSEL EQUIPMENT The following equipment is mobilized on the vessel (on-line) pre-project: SDM Surface Laptop (plus spare) External screen Interfacing accessories Kongsberg APOS Survey OS (if cnode is to be used) ROV EQUIPMENT The following equipment is concurrently mobilized and tested on the ROV(s) and communication to on-line confirmed: Gisma Hot Stab Connector (plus spare) Acoustic Modem (plus spare) P. 17
Project planning and discussions SDM System configuration according to customer specification SDM System FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) including ocean wet test, and pressure testing of required vessels Cable molding (in-house) and testing of all required cables Structure pre-inspection (if required) System installation and testing Complete system installation reports and deliverables such as log files Optimization of all pressure sensors to exact deployment depth by accredited calibration lab Offshore SDM operators to assist during operation and maintain systems Technical on-shore support team available 24/7 P. 18
Since the first RTS SDM systems were released in 2007 over 70 subsea structures have been successfully deployed utilizing these systems. Clients include the major subsea entrepreneurs involved in subsea construction work. All system components are sourced from the best possible equipment suppliers. With access to the worlds largest pool of rental marine survey assets (Seatronics), all components are carefully chosen based on track record and performance. All engineering of key SDM components such as subsea logger, subsea displays, battery packs, framework and software are performed internally at RTS by our engineering department. This ensures complete control of system hardware and software, allowing us to fully support the systems and our clients. Our joint rental pool with Seatronics assures system availability on short notice as well as a global presence. P. 19
