1 Published on UC Davis Safety Services ( Safety Month May is Safety Month at UC Davis, with activities and training offered each week to help keep you safe and healthy - both on and off campus - all year long. The following four weeks are designed to bring awareness to risks that apply to every employee on campus, whether you work in a lab or a cubicle. Resources are available right on campus to help you think safe, act safe, and be safe. All events are first come, first seated. Proper Lab Attire We have a winner! Owner of ticket 316 is Kori Lay in the David Lab in the Department of Chemistry. She just won pizza for her entire lab. Congratulations! 1
2 Congratulations to our May 18 pizza winner, Evan Dumas! 2
3 We caught Evan Dumas of the Mysore Sudarshana lab in Plant Pathology & USDA wearing proper PPE, which means he won pizza for the entire lab. Travel Safety & Security Know Before You Go is the most important tip we can offer travelers. There are campus experts focused on preparing you to travel more securely, wherever your research or work takes you, and to get you home safely if your condition or the situation on the ground takes an unexpected turn. UC Davis partners offer comprehensive travel services from trip planning and ticket purchasing, to free vaccinations and real-time communications while you're abroad. [1] Webinar Slides (.pdf) [2] - posted at right. Wednesday, May 30, from a.m. 3
4 There's a suite of travel safety and security resources available to you as a UC Davis employee. UC Davis travel experts will cover them all and even hang around for questions afterward. Join the Zoom Meeting at [3]. Send any questions to safetymonth@ucdavis.edu [4] Travel Resource Fairs on Thursday, May 31 Stop by for in-person assistance with an upcoming trip, whether you're the one traveling or the person helping set it up. Experts from Global Affairs, Accounting & Financial Services and Safety Services are eager to share tips around booking travel, securing free medical examinations and vaccines, and other planning considerations that could make your next international trip a little safer. Food is a very important part of travel, so please RSVP (Qualtrics form) [5] so we can ensure there's enough refreshments for everyone. Send any questions to safetymonth@ucdavis.edu [4] Two Options 10-11:30 a.m. Meyer Hall [6], Weir Room Noon - 1:30 p.m. Valley Hall [7], 1047 About Safety Month Safety Services launched this effort with campus partners to highlight safety programs available to students, staff and faculty all year long. Our mission is promoting a culture of safety on campus, said Eric Kvigne, Associate Vice Chancellor for Safety Services. The information we re providing applies to anyone working on campus, and can also improve our health and well-being when we're not on campus. Safety Month is coordinated by Safety Services with support from Facilities Management, the UC Davis Police Department, Global Affairs, Campus Recreation and Unions, Accounting and Financial Services, Grounds and Landscape Services, Healthy UC Davis and others dedicated to the health and well-being of UC Davis employees.
