2 Global Change and Sustainable Development The research group on Global Change and Sustainable Development: Social Trends and Emerging Policies is a multidisciplinary group formed by professionals from a range of academic fields such as sociology, political science, economy, law, psychology, biology and statistics. The group s proven experience and expertise combined with a multidisciplinary approach is brought to all of its research guaranteeing greater analytical and problem solving capacity. Given the complexity of today s societies (within a context of globalization and diversity) a sophisticated needs analysis and the strategic identification of new opportunities are in ever greater demand. In knowledge and information societies (such as those found in economically developed countries) decision making by social agents or within the economic sector relies on in-depth analysis and interpretation of specific situations as well as of the wider environment.

3 Within this framework, the research group s objectives are: 1) To undertake an analysis and diagnosis of how Global Change and Sustainable Development can affect each specific organization. 2) To propose solutions. 3) To manage their implementation. 4) Training and capacity building. These objectives are reflected throughout the research from the initial study to its implementation and are communicated through reports and consultancy services. READY FOR THE CHANGE? AREAS OF ACTIVITY The research group on Global Change and Sustainable Development: Social Trends and Emerging Policies offers companies, industry and public institutions, a highly qualified team and advanced technical assistance to provide support in the following Areas: 1) Analysis of Social Trends: Opinion polls: Quantitative analysis, Qualitative analysis, Analysis of social networks. Political analysis. Social movements. Companies. 2) Society and Environment Sustainable Development. Environmental Education. Agenda 21.

4 Sustainable Cities and Sustainable Land Planning. Environmental Impact Evaluation. Sustainable Transport and Mobility. Social Management and Saving Policies (energy, waste, water, noise). 3) Public Policies Social participation processes. Assessment of sustainable development programs. Socio-environmental impact of new technologies. Young people and Environmental Education. Public Health and Risks related to the environment. Within the framework of these research areas, the Group offers the following SERVICES: Collection, organization and categorization of data and documents. Data analysis: descriptive, interpretive and relational analysis. The social Ecosystem Social Organization Population Environment Technology

5 Situational diagnosis reports. Study of formative needs, design of training and capacity building programmes. Proposals for the development of strategic lines, programmes, projects and actions, management of their implementation, evaluation and monitoring. Design and implementation of evaluation indicator systems. Training on the preparation and management of social projects. Carrying out of opinion polls, satisfaction surveys and analysis of social expectations. Management of public participation processes. Innovation and development of qualitative methodology of social intervention.

6 OUR MEANS Expert human resources with a multidisciplinary character, which allow for a systemic approach to studies and Surveys. The group works closely with the Spanish Committee on Global Change Research (CEICAG). Theoretical, conceptual and methodological tools, as well as the following implementation techniques: Quantitative: Statistics, Opinion Polls, Social Network Analysis. Qualitative: Semi-structured Interviews, Discussion Groups, Triangular Groups, Text Content Analysis, Delphi, DAFO, Social Participation Processes, Nominal Groups.

7 OUR EXPERIENCE The Group has worked for several public and private entities such as: the Government of Navarre, Communities (Region of Pamplona), Councils (Pamplona, Burgos, Madrid), Ministries and Departments (Industry, Environment, Education and Science, Work), Autonomous Regions (Madrid, Basque Country, Andalusia, Navarre, Castile and León), as well as Private Companies. At an international level, the Group has collaborated with Universities from the United States (UC Berkeley, Ohio State University ), Europe (Bremen, Lille, Bath ) and Brazil (Campinas ), among others.
