1 THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS Programme Learning Outcomes BFIN(AMPB) SEF Curricula University Educational Aims Benchmarked against the highest international standards, the 4- year undergraduate curriculum at HKU is designed to enable our students to develop their capabilities in: Aim 1: Pursuit of academic/ professional excellence, critical intellectual enquiry and lifelong learning Faculty Overall Goal 1: Acquisition and internalization of knowledge of the programme discipline know the fundamental principles and theories of business / accounting / economics / finance use analytical tools to formulate and solve business/accounting/ economics/finance problems. Program Specific: BFin(AMPB) PLO 1 Should be able to perform basic security analysis, asset allocation, design, construct and manage portfolios and develop solutions to meet clients needs. PLO 2 Should be able to identify, measure, and monitor major risks such as market, credit, operational, legal, compliance, reputational, etc. for both the firms and clients in the asset management and private banking business. Courses that help achieve the PLOs 1

2 PLO 3 Should be able to prepare for the professional qualifications and pursue an entry level career in asset management and private banking. 2

3 Aim 2: Tackling novel situations and illdefined problems Goal 2: Application and integration of knowledge distinguish between major and minor issues relating to the programme discipline identify, critically analyze and use relevant information apply relevant concepts and analytical tools, identify viable alternatives, make informed choices and recommend an implementation plan PLO 4 Should be able to distinguish between major and minor business issues in asset management and private banking. PLO 5 Should be able to identify and use relevant information in asset management and private banking. 3

4 Aim 3: Critical selfreflection, greater understanding of others, and upholding personal and professional ethics Goal 3 (a): Inculcating professionalism demonstrate the capacity to deal with ethical and social issues PLO 6 Should be able to make trade-offs and informed decisions in asset management and private banking PLO 7 Should demonstrate the capacity to deal with ethical and social issues and comply with professional and ethical standards, laws, regulations, and compliance of the asset management and private banking industry. PLO 8 Should adhere to and respect university regulations on academic conduct. 4
